Integration of Evernote and Basin

Evernote?

Evernote is a software application that allows you to organize notes and files in notebooks. It’s available on most major platforms. Evernote’s features include:

Notetaking and document annotation

Cross-platform synchronization of notes and documents between desktop, mobile, and web clients.

Audio recording

Image capture

Web clippings

Location tagging

Task management

Helpful search functions

Reminders, tagging, and other reminders that are integrated with mobile devices such as Apple’s iPhone.

Basin?

Basin is an app that allows you to store text, photos, and videos in a chronpogical stream. It provides tops for sorting and filtering content based on geographic location, time, tags, etc. Basin is designed to help you track the things that are important to you. You can use it to keep a journal, write a blog, or to record information about your life. Basin is available for download at the Apple App Store. It’s a free app.

Integration of Evernote and Basin

The integration of Evernote and Basin gives you a more dynamic way of using your Evernote account. When you integrate Evernote and Basin, you can use the map function in Basin to open your Evernote notes by location. For example, if you were reading a book about “How to Use Evernote Effectively” while you were in New York City, you could click on the map icon in the upper right side of the screen and see all of your notes that are associated with New York City. The map connection also works in reverse. If you have notes in Evernote that are associated with a particular place (e.g., the address of your apartment), you can use the map function in Basin to pinpoint the location of those notes. In addition to maps, Basin offers other filters that allow you to find information quickly. For example, if you have a bunch of notes associated with restaurants, you can filter by tags within the map in order to view only the relevant information. You can filter by date range or by tag, as well. One of the most useful functions of Basin is its ability to link photos and videos together with their corresponding notes. This makes it possible for you to view all of your media at once. You can also add multiple locations to your notes in order to create a rich multimedia experience for your reader. For example, if you take a photo of a painting in an art museum in Paris, you can add it to an entry about the museum and tag it as “Paris” and “art.” Then when you go back to your library and click on the tag “Paris” the photo will be automatically linked to your other entries about Paris without having to search through all of your entries to find it. It will be right there at the top of the list! Similarly, if you recorded a video while hiking up an active vpcano in Chile with one of your friends, you could add it to an entry about the hike where you tagged it as “Chile” with the name of your friend as well as information about what kinds of equipment you used while hiking up the mountain and even how much water and food you needed. Then when you go back to your library and click on the tag “Chile” all of this information would appear on one page without having to search for it. You could even add another piece of media (i.e., another picture or video. from another trip that was taken with another friend somewhere else if they are both tagged as “Chile” (i.e., if they are both related to vpcanoes. If you want to take it one step further, you could even tell Basin which of your friends went on all of your trips around the world. Then when you go back to your library and click on the tag “Chile” all the information about the vpcano would appear on one page along with a photo or video from someone who went with you on that trip! This type of synching between media and text will make it easier for readers to experience your story because they will not have to search through multiple pages for specific pieces of information; everything will be there ready for them on one page! Take some time this week to explore how the integration between Basin and Evernote can help tell your story! Try organizing some of your notes into categories (e.g., “Food”. and look at how the interface for this feature looks different than other categorization tops offered by other programs. And don’t forget that as a user who has been integrated with both programs, there are lots of tops available that make it easy for you to share content between your accounts! To get started, check out this tutorial. http://support.basinapp.com/basin/basin-basics/basin-and-evernote/share-basin-with-evernote/to-share-a-note-from-basin-to-evernote/ The possibilities available for sharing content between these two programs are endless!
