Every company has a story. In this article, I want to tell the story of two technpogy companies called Etsy and ShipRocket. Both companies have their own distinctive history. My aim is to analyze how they’ve grown to where they are today, and what they’ve done to get there.
In the early days, Etsy was a marketplace for handmade goods. It was started by three friends in 2005. At that time, it was called “Etsy.com”. The idea behind it was to connect artists with customers who would buy their products. Today, Etsy is the most successful e-commerce marketplace in the world. According to a report published in the Time magazine, it sells more than $1 billion worth of goods every year, which makes it worth more than $3 billion.
ShipRocket is an online shipping platform that allows sellers to ship their goods internationally at competitive prices. Like Etsy, ShipRocket started as a dream of its founders. Today, it is the largest global shipping platform in the world. Its mission is to make life easier for everyone who sells online. They help buyers, sellers, and even local businesses by connecting them with affordable shipping sputions.
In 2014, Etsy announced that it would integrate its services with ShipRocket. This partnership enabled both companies to offer a variety of shipping options to their customers. Some of the services they offered included USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and others. For instance, a buyer could purchase a product on Etsy and ship it using a courier service of his/her choice. It also made international shipping very easy, because ShipRocket had partnered with over 500 carriers in 190 countries.
ShipRocket connects all these couriers while providing merchants with an interface that is easy to use and understand. The integration of Etsy and ShipRocket created a synergistic effect that benefited both companies. On the one hand, it made it easier for many customers to purchase products from Etsy sites without worrying about shipping charges. On the other hand, it made it easier for sellers to ship their products without worrying about shipping charges.
Etsy and ShipRocket are able to offer various shipping options to their customers because of their integration. Here are some of the benefits their integration provides:
Affordable Shipping Options
The main reason why many people hesitate to shop on the Internet is because they fear high shipping costs will break them financially. According to an article published in NPR, some retailers charge between $20 and $40 for every single package. This discourages people from buying products online. However, this is not true at all times. Many retailers have different shipping options available depending on how fast you want your package delivered to you. When you shop on Etsy and ShipRocket platforms, you enjoy affordable shipping options because they integrate various shipping services into one platform. As a result, you can choose several different options depending on your budget and preferences.
Easy-to-understand Interface
It is very difficult for anyone who’s new to the e-commerce business to understand all the factors that determine shipping fees. These factors include item weight, size, carrier fee, insurance cost (for fragile items), destination country among others. Because of these factors, some new sellers choose one provider and stick with it even if they lose money in the process. In such cases, they end up paying more than necessary for shipping their packages across the country or internationally. However, when you shop on Etsy and ShipRocket platforms, you enjoy easy-to-understand interfaces because they integrate various shipping services into one platform. As a result, you can choose affordable shipping options without having to worry about additional charges for every single service provider you use. This allows you to save money as you shop online!
I think the integration of Etsy and ShipRocket has helped both companies grow to where they are today. This integration has opened up several opportunities for both companies to expand their services all over the world and serve many people in need of affordable shipping services. I hope this article will help people understand why this integration is beneficial to them as well as both companies.
