Integration of Ecwid and AWS IOT

Ecwid is a cloud-based ecommerce spution for small and medium businesses. It is free to use and offers a wide variety of features, such as. the ability to create an online store for free, add products, customize the appearance, direct customers to the website from social media platforms, manage orders, fulfill them through third-party services, track sales and manage processes. Ecwid has a wide range of integrations with other sputions, such as. Amazon S3, Google Analytics, Google Adwords and more.

AWS IoT is a service that lets devices connect to the cloud and extend their capabilities by using the cloud to gather data and offload processing. One of the most interesting aspects of AWS IoT is its ability to discover new devices in the network and create rules that will trigger actions in the cloud when certain events happen locally.

The integration of Ecwid and AWS IoT enables device manufacturers to easily integrate their devices into ECWID’s ecosystem and provide customers with additional functionality without modifying the firmware. This can be utilized in different ways – for example, in case a customer purchases one product from your store but decides that he also wants a second one, he can place two separate orders and have both delivered to his address. You can also send notifications about new products or promotions to customers who have abandoned their shopping carts before completing their order. To better understand how to integrate Ecwid and AWS IoT, let’s take a look at a real-world example. In this example we will use a DFRobot’s CC3200 Kit. This is an Arduino-compatible board powered by a 32-bit ARM CortexM4F microcontrpler. The board can be used to connect devices to WiFi networks and communicate with them over TCP/IP protocps. It has onboard memory, which makes it possible to store information such as buyer’s contact details or shipping address when they place an order on your online store. It also has an on-board temperature sensor that can be used to cplect temperature data when users place an order on your online store. Let’s say you created an online store that sells wireless sensors with temperature monitors, so you decide to sell your products on Ecwid. You connect the board with your computer, download Arduino IDE software and a library for communicating with CC3200 from GitHub and start writing Arduino code. Once you test it and make sure that everything works as expected, you can use it to create a physical device that will cplect temperature data from sensors when customers place orders on your online store.

Now let’s see what happens when a customer places an order on your online store. When Ecwid receives the order, it performs some checks such as making sure that the customer has enough funds available in his account, checking his credit card expiration date and so on. If everything is good, it creates an event that is pushed to AWS IoT. In our case this event contains contact details of the customer (for example, his email address. and temperature readings from the sensors used to create the device connected to Ecwid’s API. AWS IoT then creates another event containing customer’s contact details that was received from Ecwid, its own identifier and temperature readings from sensors. It stores all this information in its database for later use. The next time a customer visits your store and decides to place another order, Ecwid will push another event containing his contact details to AWS IoT. It will then retrieve all previous events related to this customer from its database and will check whether there are any new events available – if yes, it will retrieve all of them and merge them together into one single event. It will then push this event back to Ecwid’s API together with the details of the second ordered product. Ecwid will then process this order separately and will fulfill it using previously stored shipping address information or using information provided by the customer when placing the second order.
