Salesforce is a cloud computing company based in San Francisco, California. The company develops and markets a customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise social networking (ESN), and analytics software called Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Marketing Cloud.
In August 2005, Salesforce announced a partnership with eBay to integrate the latter’s data into its existing CRM products. The resulting product was named the Salesforce for eBay. In 2007, Salesforce announced that its Analytics Cloud was integrated with eBay’s site search technpogy. In February 2009, Salesforce reported that it would expand its relationship with eBay to allow its Chatter social networking service to be used on eBay. In 2010, eBay CEO John Donahoe stated that he wanted the integration with Salesforce.com to be completed by the end of the year. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said that his company would not complete any major new integrations with eBay until after the planned separation of PayPal from eBay, which took place in July 2015. In April 2016, it was reported that Amazon Web Services had signed a deal with Salesforce for a “multi-year, multi-million dplar agreement” to use its cloud computing services. On November 1, 2016, Salesforce announced a partnership with eBay to integrate the latter’s data into its existing CRM products. The resulting product was named the Salesforce for eBay. In July 2017, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said that the integration between Salesforce and eBay had been completed.
