(Integration of eBay and Amazon CloudWatch)

Integrating eBay and Amazon CloudWatch allows for eBay to track their metrics in Amazon CloudWatch and then send them to 3rd party analytics tops like Splunk. eBay is able to gain more insight into the metrics of their Amazon infrastructure helping them to monitor costs and utilization of their Amazon services. Using Splunk with Amazon CloudWatch data helps to aggregate the data from many different sources and helps provide valuable insights into your data. For example, you can send the CloudWatch metrics of EC2 instances to Splunk, which will then aggregate all of these metrics together into one view. You can then create alerts on key metrics, like CPU utilization, and receive alerts when they reach certain threshpds. This data can be used for capacity planning, budgeting, cost analysis, etc. In addition, you can also use Splunk’s alerting feature to alert you when certain events have occurred in your environment. For example, if you created an alert to notify you whenever there are more than 10 percent of requests that fail at a given time of day or on a given day of the week, you could use the alerting feature to send you an email or text message when such an event occurs.
