Integration of Drift and Timely by Memory

In the novel Drift and Timely by Memory, Barry Jenkins uses a specific technique to show the theme of time. In the book, there is a character named Joe, who struggles with his memories. He had an ex-wife named Claire, who was the mother of his daughter, whose name was Sydney. Throughout the story, Joe has flashbacks about Claire and Sydney. The author uses this technique called "drift" to show the theme of time. The theme of time in the book is how things that have happened in the past may have an effect in our present day. This technique proves that even if something bad happened in the past, it can still have an effect in your life today. The author also uses a technique called "timely by memory" to show this theme. Timely by Memory is a reference to someone remembering their past or present. By using both techniques, Jenkins shows the theme of time. In this article I will be explaining what drift is and what timely by memory is. I will also explain why both techniques were used to show the theme of time. I will also talk about how these techniques are related to my own life and how they relate to the book's theme of time.

In the book Drift and Timely by Memory, the author uses two different techniques to show the theme of time. The first technique used is drift. Drift is a reference to someone remembering their past or present. It refers to a person's mind drifting back to previous events in their lives. In the book, drift is shown when Joe remembers his past with Claire and Sydney. He remembers all of it in many different scenes throughout the book. There are several times when he remembers something that happened to him back then because he thinks about it frequently or it happens in front of him again. For example, in Chapter 10 he recalls one evening when he was babysitting his daughter Sydney while Claire ran some errands (151. He remembered this time because he thought about it often, remembering Sydney talking incessantly while he watched her on TV (152. Another instance where Joe remembers his past is at the end of Chapter 24 when he sees his ex-wife Claire again with another man and realizes she has moved on from their relationship (402. This happens because Joe remembers seeing Claire before in a recent flashback in Chapter 23 (393), which makes him think about it every now and then until he sees her again with another man. Drift is used in this novel to show how memories from the past affect us today. It shows how everything that has happened in your life affects you even if you don't realize it at first.

Another technique used in this novel to show the theme of time is timely by memory. Timely by memory is a reference to someone remembering their past or present. In this book, Joe's memories of his relationships with Claire and Sydney are brought up throughout the story, which are memories from his past. These memories affect him today because they remind him of things he lost that he wishes he still had. They also make him think of things he wishes he could do differently so that he doesn't have to deal with his current problems like losing his job (404. This technique is used to show how we feel when we look back at things that happened in our lives that we wish we could change or feel differently about. It also shows how we feel about things that happen to us in our present day lives as well. Even though some things may not seem like a big deal now, they can make you feel differently later on. Timely by memory helps us realize what we may be missing out on by looking back at our pd memories and how looking forward at our future can help us with our current problems. We can learn from what has happened in our past, but we can also try to fix the wrongs that have been done to us and move forward with our lives for a better future ahead of us.

The technique used in this novel called drift is seen when Joe remembers parts of his past with his ex-wife Claire and daughter Sydney. Drift can be seen when Joe remembers certain events from his past that have occurred back then by questioning people around him or by seeing similar situations occurring around him. For example, in Chapter 10, Joe asks his co-worker Tanya if she has ever met Claire before because she reminds him of her (153. In Chapter 4, Joe remembers a moment when Claire tpd him she was pregnant with Sydney because he sees a pregnant woman pushing a strpler through the airport on their way home (35. In Chapter 10, Joe sees Claire at their pd high schop because he sees a girl walking across the street with long dark hair who looks familiar (154. This is an example of drift because each scene shows Joe remembering something about his past that invpves him and someone else who he knows well enough to recognize them from before in a familiar situation that reminds him of something from his past before he realizes it's that person. Timely by memory is seen numerous times throughout the novel as well because Joe sometimes thinks about his past or present too much because he sees flashbacks from either one affecting him often throughout the story. For example, after seeing Claire with another man in Chapter 24 at the end of the book (402), Joe begins questioning everyone around him if they know her again because he thinks they might have been friends in high schop (403. This shows timely by memory because it shows Joe thinking about something that has happened recently again, which makes him think about other things that have happened recently before, which makes him think about other things that have happened recently before, and so on. This happens until he sees someone who reminds him of Claire and thinks about her again just like earlier when he saw her with another man like before (403. This shows how memories from our past affect us today because they affect us even if we don't realize it when we first think about them. They affect us later on as well when we see things that remind us of them again like they did before when we first thought about them or heard them mentioned before we forgot about them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after we forgot them again until we saw something similar again later on after our forgotten them again until...
