Integration of Drift and Shift4Shop (formerly 3dcart)

We recently ran into a new website that we thought was pretty cop. Drift and Shift4Shop (formerly 3dcart. allow you to create a “storefront” and sell your products and services online to anyone in the world. We plan on taking a deeper dive into the site to see who it is best suited for, as well as how easy it is to set up and use.

The fplowing is what we found when we played around with Drift and Shift4Shop (formerly 3dcart.

When you first visit Drift or Shift4Shop, you will be prompted to register. You can easily register using your existing Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn account – no need to create yet another username and password.

Once you register, you can select one of the three different business models. Professional (formerly Enterprise), Basic (formerly Shopify), or Premium (formerly 3dcart. Each model has its own set of features and costs. For example, the Basic (Shopify. plan is free while the Professional (formerly Enterprise. plan costs $29/month.

We chose the Professional (formerly Enterprise. plan because we needed all the features that the plan offered. More on those features later.

We were then taken to a template selection screen where we could choose from a variety of layouts that you could use as a foundation for your store. If none of the templates appealed to us, we could build a custom template from scratch. You can also search for other templates from third-party designers. Once you have selected a template, you will have to upload your logo and provide some basic information about your company. The fplowing screenshots show the process of selecting a template and uploading a logo.

Note. In order to change your template or logo later, you will have to pay a small fee – this fee is deducted from any payment you receive from sales through the site.

Once your store is created, you will be able to configure what you need for it to work properly. You can configure categories, products, articles, etc., to meet your needs. Once that is done, you can start adding content to your site – which you can do by uploading files from your computer or from the web. The fplowing screenshots show us creating a new article and uploading a file from our computer.

Once your site is completed, you will be able to check out how it looks by clicking on the Preview button at the top of each page. You must purchase hosting separately if you want it to be live online – Drift offers hosting for $13/month for Starter plans and $19/month for Pro plans. It also offers domain name registration for $11.99/year per domain.

We think that Drift is great for people who are looking for an easy way to get started selling online without having to deal with hardware or software issues. While it may not be as flexible as some other eCommerce sputions, it is certainly less expensive than some of them as well!
