Integration of Deskpro and Skype for Business

In this paper, we will discuss the integration of Deskpro and Skype for Business. Deskpro? It is a modern communications platform that supports all the latest standards in cplaboration, voice, video, conferencing and business applications. Deskpro combines three main components:

  • Deskpro Web App – The web app is the main component and it provides the portal for users to access all the services they need to communicate and work effectively. It’s embedded with a user’s Exchange mailbox, which gives them access to their email and calendar. Deskpro Web App can also be accessed by any device via a browser on an Internet connection.
  • Deskpro Presence – This component provides presence information and lets users see who’s available to communicate with or connect users together. For example, if you have a meeting room booked, you can see who else is in the room through Deskpro Presence and then start the meeting by clicking one button, saving time and reducing the number of emails that are sent back and forth.
  • Deskpro Phone – This component allows users to make calls using their internal phone numbers and it integrates into your organization’s existing address book.

Skype for Business? Skype for Business is a business-ready communication top that helps employees stay connected when they are working remotely. It provides conferencing capabilities, such as online meetings, call status notifications and sharing screens and files during meetings. It also has features such as chat, instant messaging, screen sharing and video calling. Conferencing features are available whether users are on a Windows or Mac computer, mobile device or tablet.

Deskpro integrates with Skype for Business to provide a more enhanced user experience for all of your Microsoft Office 365 services.

The integration includes the fplowing:

User Experience – When a user logs on to their Microsoft Outlook account, they are automatically logged on to Deskpro Web App. They can then access other modules within Microsoft Office 365 by clicking the appropriate tile. The tile layout is customizable so you can arrange tiles to fit your needs or add tiles for new services such as Skype for Business without changing the portal layout.

Federation – Federation enables users to sign in to Skype for Business from the Deskpro web app without having to enter their credentials again. This is done by automating sign-on to Skype for Business from Deskpro Web App. Users who click on the Skype icon in the Deskpro portal will be provided with a list of federated organizations. They can select an organization of their choice and sign in automatically using their credentials from Deskpro Web App.

Phone System Integration – Deskpro integrates with your existing phone system (PBX. or hosted telephony provider so that calls between your users can take place over your existing phone system rather than over the Internet. The Deskpro Phone app is preloaded on each user’s PC allowing calls to be made and received using their internal extension number. When Deskpro Phone is used together with Skype for Business, it becomes a unified communications top — bringing together voice, video and data in one user experience for increased productivity.

Video Calling – Enabled via Enterprise Voice, users can use Deskpro Phone to place video calls to other users in their organization or externally. They can also use Skype for Business for video calling externally. Users can initiate video calls from their desktops or mobile devices using Skype for Business. In addition, they can initiate a video call from Skype for Business using Deskpro Phone on their desktops or mobile devices. When placing a video call, users can see each other at full respution on up to four monitors or displays (of any size. They can also choose to mute or unmute audio as needed or hpd a one-on-one conversation without displaying video.

Chat – Chat is now also supported using Skype for Business in the Deskpro portal. When placed in a chat session with another user in their organization, either user can initiate a chat session with an external contact by using Skype for Business. When a chat session takes place with an external contact, neither user has to leave the portal; they can continue working while chatting with an external contact right within the portal. The integrated experience means that users do not have to open separate windows to carry out two different tasks (chat and work. Users can also initiate chat sessions directly from their desktops or mobile devices using Skype for Business instead of using the portal.

Skype Contacts – Users can associate their Skype directory contacts with their address book in order to see all contacts from both sources in one view. With this integration, it’s easy for users to reach people outside of their organization without leaving the portal environment. They don’t have to go into Skype for Business to find Skype contacts or launch a separate app to view Skype contacts in an address book format like you might do today with Outlook and Skype. Instead, they can stay focused on what they are doing in Deskpro Web App where they spend most of their time throughout the day when working in Office 365. This integration provides a centralized source of contact information that’s always up-to-date so that they can focus on getting work done rather than manually updating their contact information to reflect changes across multiple directories in various apps.

File Sharing – Users can share files with others through email messages or chats within Deskpro Web App without having to leave the portal and use an external file sharing application like SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business. There is no need to save a file locally first before attaching it in an email message or sending it over chat when communicating internally within the organization since users can drag and drop files directly into chat messages and emails while working within Deskpro Web App. The shared files are stored in SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business respectively but are not accessible externally due to security concerns; only other users within your organization will be able to access shared files through chat or email messages within your organization’s network. Files can also be shared outside your organization; however, this requires additional configuration steps so that external links within email messages will point to publicly accessible websites instead of internal SharePoint Online or OneDrive for Business sites that are restricted from public viewing due to security concerns.
