DEAR Inventory is an open source project that allows users to create inventory data about digital media such as books, CDs, and DVDs. The user can then export this data into a JSON or YAML file and customize it to their liking. DEAR Inventory supports the creation of multiple cplections and workspaces — each with their own inventory — and has a tagging system for organization. Siteleaf, on the other hand, is a cloud-based web hosting service for creating and managing websites. It is ideal for beginner developers as they can quickly create websites without dealing with configuration settings. Siteleaf also provides numerous features such as designing, blogging, and photo galleries. Siteleaf’s integration with DEAR Inventory allows users to easily create inventories of physical books and import them into their website.
DEAR Inventory and Siteleaf Integration
The integration of DEAR Inventory and Siteleaf makes it easy for users to create an inventory of their physical books and store it in their Siteleaf website. First, the user must download and install DEAR Inventory on their computer. Then, they must create a new workspace and enter in the title, author, ISBN, publisher, etc. After entering in this information, the user must upload the book cover image via the “Add Image” button. They can then add any notes or tags about the book. After finishing up this section, the user can export the book information to a JSON or YAML file using the “Export” button.
Once the user has exported the data from DEAR Inventory, they can login into their Siteleaf account and go to “My Account” to see the imported content. For each book, there are two pieces of information available. the cover image and the book info. The cover image will show up to four images while the book info section will display all of the data previously entered in DEAR Inventory. This section will also show any tags previously entered about the book.
Benefits of Integration of DEAR Inventory and Siteleaf
The benefits of integrating DEAR Inventory and Siteleaf include saving time when setting up a website since developers don’t have to import data manually. Another benefit is that users don’t have to worry about data consistency since everything is done automatically. This integration also allows users to import various types of media including audio books, music CDs, DVDs, and more. Finally, this integration saves storage space since only the cover images need to be stored in DEAR Inventory while everything else can be exported to Siteleaf.
