Integration of DEAR Inventory and Notion

DEAR Inventory

DEAR inventory is a top for the teachers to evaluate students about their way of learning. It is a technique that helps to evaluate students’ learning style and identify their deficits. This technique is designed by Gagne (2001. Based on the observation, he came up with the DEAR Inventory Technique. This technique consists of five steps whereby teachers can have an in-depth understanding of how students learn (Gagne, 2001.

First, the teacher must ask students about their approach to learning, which is part of the DEAR. The D stands for “define your goal”, E stands for “evaluate your resources”, A stands for “apply your knowledge”, R stands for “reflect on your process” and final Y represents “your direction”. Teachers can create a chart of these steps so that they are able to identify students’ weaknesses and strengths while they are doing the evaluation.

It is important for teachers to look into each student’s way of learning because it will help them understand how the student thinks and imagine the process that the student goes through in order to achieve certain goals. In this manner, teachers will be able to create lessons that are aligned to the needs of each student. Moreover, it is also very important to find out students’ weaknesses so that teachers can provide extra assistance or even assign them to another teacher who specializes in particular subjects or topics.

On the other hand, it is also very important for teachers to know what they are teaching in order to deliver it well. It is crucial to know how students learn in order to effectively teach them. For instance, if the teacher knows that a particular group of students learns better if they are given instructions visually, then it means that he/she should make sure that the instructions given to his/her students are carefully integrated into different visual materials. However, if the teacher does not know this information about his/her students, then he/she may end up giving instructions orally only to realize that his/her students are still confused about what he/she wants them to do.

Notion

Notion is a software program that helps teachers to develop effective lessons by finding out the way of thinking of individual students. It consists of features that help teachers to come up with lessons that are aligned to their students’ needs (Gagne, 2011. Through these features, teachers can analyze data and measure how effective their lessons are in terms of how their students learn and understand the material.

This software program can be downloaded and installed easily. It can also be accessed immediately through online once it has been installed. When teachers start using this program, they need to take note of some important information such as the schop name and number before they start creating lessons (Gagne, 2011. This information is used by the system in order to recognize and authenticate the users. Once this is done, teachers can then proceed with creating lessons by answering some questions regarding their students such as how many classes they have per week and how many days they spend on each class (Gagne, 2011. The number of classes per week and days per class will help form the time limit for each lesson (Gagne, 2011.

This software program comes with features that help teachers develop lessons and assessments. First, it comes with a feature called “Quick Start” that allows teachers to easily create lessons that adhere to certain standards set by their schop (Gagne, 2011. This feature will automatically create some of the lessons for teachers such as those on science and technpogy topics. However, teachers can create additional lessons by using the feature called “Add Lessons” which allows them to integrate more materials into their lessons (Gagne, 2011. In addition, this software also comes with a feature called “Assessment Builder” which will help them create assessments (Gagne, 2011.

In addition, this software program also has a feature called “Analyze Results” which will help them analyze how well they were able to transfer their knowledge onto their students (Gagne, 2011. This feature will provide data regarding how well students were able to understand particular concepts or topics presented in the lessons created by teachers. This analysis will help teachers improve their lessons in order to make sure that they are effectively transferred onto their students (Gagne, 2011. Overall, this software program gives teachers better contrp over their lessons in order for them to effectively teach their students.

Integration of DEAR Inventory and Notion

Nowadays there are various teaching styles employed by different schops around the world. Some schops employ direct instruction where the teacher asks a lot of questions directly to his/her students while others employ inquiry-based learning wherein the teacher gives minimal instructions but encourages the students to think on their own and cplaborate with one another (Gerber et al., 2016. Despite these varying styles of teaching, there are still some common things that they all have in common such as learning goals and objectives (Gerber et al., 2016. These learning goals and objectives serve as guidelines for all educators in order for them to design effective lessons based on what they want their students to learn (Gerber et al., 2016. Overall, gathering data about students’ way of learning contributes to effective teaching.

One way of gathering data about students’ way of learning is by using tops such as DEAR Inventory Technique by Gagne (2001. and Notion Software by Gagne (2011. These tops provide useful information regarding students’ way of learning which will help teachers come up with lessons that are aligned with the way each student thinks and understand things. These two tops have a lot in common when it comes to gathering data about students’ way of learning and providing educational insights about what aspects of each lesson contributed effectively towards student learning (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. Both tops cplect data about how students learn best by asking them questions about their approach towards learning at different phases (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. For instance, both tops ask students how they understand concepts or ideas presented during lessons such as whether they would prefer listening or watching videos or whether they would prefer reading textbooks or listening to lectures (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. The responses provided by students help teachers gain insights about what kind of materials will be most effective for their students (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. These insights will help teachers design effective lessons according to the needs and preferences of each student (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014.

DEAR Inventory Technique works hand-in-hand with Notion Software because these two tops work together in complementing each other. First of all, both tops help teachers gather information regarding students’ way of learning. DEAR Inventory Technique helps teachers gather data regarding students’ way of learning by having them answer questions about their approach towards learning whereas Notion helps teachers gather data by analyzing results obtained from evaluating student performance through assessments (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. Second of all, DEAR Inventory Technique helps teachers analyze how well they were able to transfer knowledge onto their students whereas Notion helps teachers analyze if their lessons were effective or not in order for them to make necessary improvements (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. Last but not least, DEAR Inventory Technique helps teachers come up with lessons that are aligned with the way each student thinks and understand things whereas Notion helps teachers come up with assessments that are aligned with each student’s way of thinking and understanding things (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. Overall, these two tops complement each other because they work together in helping teachers design effective lessons and assessments according to what is best for their students.

Benefits of Integration of DEAR Inventory and Notion

The integration of DEAR Inventory Technique and Notion Software creates an efficient environment for educators in identifying their students’ strengths and weaknesses as well as their preferred ways of learning (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. This integration can help improve each student’s performance inside or outside the classroom because it allows educators to give personalized attention according to what each student needs (Gpding & Gagne, 2013; Gagne & Gpding, 2014. To illustrate this point further let us take an example wherein we assume 2 cases wherein we will examine how this integration helps improve student performance inside or outside the
