Integration of DEAR Inventory and Mautic

  • DEAR?
  • DEAR (Don’t Even Ask, Read. Inventory is a list of questions that can be used to understand the way people think and talk about their environment. DEAR was developed by David Levy and his cpleagues as a top for understanding behaviors and attitudes as perceived by those who live in or work in the environment. It has been widely used in evaluating the work environment and the performance of an individual. DEAR Inventory is a set of 36 questions. The first letter represents one of four terms:

    D = Describe. How does it work?

    E = Evaluate. How good is it?

    A = Act. What can we do to make it better?

    R = Reject. Why don’t I like it?

    The next letter identifies one of four response categories:

    D = Descriptive. What does it look like?

    E = Evaluation. How good is it?

    A = Action. What can we do to make it better?

    R = Reasons. Why don’t I like it?

    The last letter represents one of four groups or segments that a person might fall into. “E” refers to a group that uses a high level of evaluation language; “A” refers to a group that uses a high level of action language; “R” refers to a group that uses a high level of rejection language; and “D” refers to a group that uses a high level of descriptive language. In this way, the DEAR Inventory allows researchers to characterize groups of people according to their preferred method of responding to questions about their environment. Thus, those who use more descriptive language would be considered a “D” group, those who use a higher level of action language would be considered an “A” group, those who use a higher level of rejection language would be considered an “R” group, and those who use a higher level of evaluation language would be considered an “E” group. For example, if you were asked to describe your home, what would you say? If you were asked to evaluate your home, how would you respond? If you were asked to take action on your home, what would you suggest? If you were asked to reject your home, why would you say no? The first and second letters (D and E. represent two levels of descriptive responses; the third and fourth letters (A and R. represent two levels of action responses; and the fifth and sixth letters (D and E again. represent two levels of evaluative responses. The seventh and eighth letters (A and R. represent two levels of rejection responses (Levy & Chandler, 1993.

  • Mautic?
  • Mautic is an open-source CiviCRM distribution built on PHP7 and Symfony3 components with over 200 enhancements and themes, plus plugins for marketing automation and fundraising automation. Mautic is free and open source and offers premium support and services through its parent company, MetricsEngine. Mautic was created by Mark Pundsack for clients who wanted an alternative to proprietary CRMs. As Pundsack says, “I saw CRMs as expensive software licenses with limited capabilities. This is not the case with CiviCRM which was designed from the start as an open source project. I wanted to base my product on CiviCRM so I could offer the flexibility of an open source product without sacrificing quality or service” (http://www.mautic.org/.
