In order to inform my audience about the integration of DEAR Inventory and LinkedIn, I should first explain what they are. DEAR (Drop Everything And Read. is a schop program that encourages students to read for 20 minutes every day and then report their reading to the teacher. DEAR Inventory is a form that teachers use to keep track of the students’ reading time and progress. On the other hand, LinkedIn is a popular social networking website for professionals. So far, there is no integrative relationship between DEAR Inventory and LinkedIn.
The purpose of this article is to enhance the communication between teachers and students through the help of LinkedIn. First, I will introduce DEAR Inventory, which helps teachers keep track of student’s progress in reading. Then, I will talk about how teachers can integrate DEAR Inventory with LinkedIn. Finally, I will share with you some benefits if they do so.
First, I will talk about DEAR Inventory. It is very helpful for teachers to know whether or not students actually read every day. Many students tend to skip reading days when they are not caught by teachers. Teachers can find out which students are the habitually truant by using DEAR Inventory.
Then, I will talk about how teachers can integrate DEAR Inventory with LinkedIn. This way, students will have more incentive to read everyday. When students report their reading progress in DEAR Inventory, they can connect it with their LinkedIn account. This way, students can leave comments on each other’s LinkedIn profile. If a student does not read for reading day, he/she would be ashamed when his/her comment does not get any response from other students. This may spur him/her to read more often in the future. In addition, teachers can also monitor their students’ progress through LinkedIn. Because of this integration, students are more likely to read than usual.
Finally, I will share some benefits if they do so. First of all, this integration will increase the communication between teachers and students. Instead of just staying at home for reading day, students can meet with their classmates online and share ideas and information about books they read in a specific period of time. Teachers can also use this opportunity to give assignments and tests via LinkedIn. They can even send them directly to the students’ email account to make sure that they have actually read the book before taking an exam for it. Moreover, this integration can also help teachers and parents if they want to know what their children are doing in schop. The parents can check the DEAR Inventory website and see what books their children had read during a certain period of time. Through the help of this integration, parents can now know that their children pay attention in class and try hard to achieve good grades for their schopwork.
In conclusion, I hope that teachers and students will integrate DEAR Inventory with LinkedIn in order to enhance communication between them as well as improve students’ performance in reading classes.
