In this part I explain how Daylite and Sympla integrate with each other. The integration is not complete but it can be used to connect Sympla to a local SQL Server database. This means you can still use Sympla without having to worry about running a MySQL server locally on your machine or worrying about being able to access a MySQL server over the internet.

Sympla uses a MySQL server to store all your data so you would need a MySQL server to use Sympla. Before version 0.5 you could install a MySQL server to use Sympla but since then the development team decided to use an existing MySQL server instead of installing one on your own machine or worrying about configuring a MySQL server on your own server. This way the user does not need to care about MySQL servers as long as he/she can access one through the internet. The user can also choose to use Sympla without any MySQL server at all, which would make it faster and more lightweight. This has been implemented in version 0.6 of Sympla which will be released shortly.

Daylite 0.7 contains a release candidate for a new version of its connector module, which enables connection with Sympla 0.6+. As the Sympla 0.6+ connector module is not yet stable, it is disabled by default, but can be enabled through the configuration file if you want to test it out. The connection with Sympla works exactly like before with the pd connector module, so no changes are needed to the code. If you're using the new connector module, give us feedback on what you've experienced with it!
