Integration of Daylite and SugarCRM
This article will discuss the advantages of integrating SugarCRM and Daylite. The first section will give a brief history of SugarCRM and Daylite, then an introduction into what SugarCRM is, what Daylite is, and how they are integrated together. The next sections will describe the benefits of integrating these two programs, along with some challenges that may be faced when integrating the two systems. Finally, the conclusion will summarize the article’s findings.
Integration of Daylite and SugarCRM
The integration of Daylite and SugarCRM can be done in one of two ways; either by simply importing your contact data into your SugarCRM database or by creating a custom connector that allows you to view your Daylite data directly within SugarCRM through a SOAP interface. Creating a custom connector is easier to do and also provides more functionality than simply importing your data. Because of this, we decided to create our own SOAP connector. This allows us to create and modify records in SugarCRM from within Daylite and vice versa. A few advantages of using a SOAP connector over simple import/export services include the ability to add custom fields to SugarCRM records, modify fields in SugarCRM directly from Daylite (e.g. add a case number to a record in SugarCRM), and update or delete records in both applications at the same time.
Benefits of Integration of Daylite and SugarCRM
There are many benefits to integrating Daylite and SugarCRM together. Some of these benefits include:
Easy access to important customer information and case details in one place, which eliminates the need to use multiple applications for various tasks and saves time by not having to switch between different applications constantly.
Easy access to case information, such as case notes, attachments, and meeting details without having to move back and forth between applications.
A better method of managing cases which includes advanced search capabilities for searching for customers, accounts, documents, etc., across all cases.
Easier creation of leads from existing cases, which helps to manage leads more easily and improves efficiency while lessening the chance of lead duplication.
An easier way to update activities on cases while ensuring that new activities are recorded appropriately in both applications.
An easier way to add tags to cases that apply not only to cases but also to contacts, accounts, products, opportunities, leads, etc. Tags can be used for anything from categorizing cases by industry or topic to assigning a priority level to a case. In addition, tags can be used for different reasons depending on which application you are working in at the time you assign them. For example, tag assignment can be used for identifying groups of customers so that you can see the tag assignments on a single page instead of going through a long list of tagged customers. In addition, you can use tags for different purposes in each application, such as resource management or assigning a project manager task on a specific case for example Daylite or SugarCRM. By being able to use tags for different uses in both applications it creates a single source of truth for your tagging criteria.
An easier way to track resources on cases by giving you an easy way to tag resources by department, availability, skill set, etc. Without this integration your resource information would be spread out across multiple applications. This could make finding information about particular resources difficult in order to schedule adequate time in your schedule for resource availability or changes in availability. It would also make it difficult to identify key skill sets that are required for certain projects.
Calendar integration which simplifies scheduling meetings with customers when needed because it allows you to see when your contacts are available in one place instead of having to look up availability in multiple places. You can also schedule meetings with other contacts in the same system without having to enter their calendar information manually each time you need to schedule a meeting with them. Thus this integration makes scheduling meetings with customers much simpler because it allows you to automate this process which saves time and reduces errors associated with manual entry into another calendar application.
An easier way to create tasks directly from email messages without having to copy and paste email messages into Daylite or SugarCRM specifically. Instead you can create tasks by simply pressing crtl+enter after replying to an email message which automatically creates a task in both applications at the same time meaning that there is no manual copying and pasting or double entry required for creating tasks associated with emails received in one application or another. This automation also creates tasks quickly while reducing errors that may occur while trying to manually create tasks in multiple applications which could potentially cause duplicate tasks or missed tasks altogether due to human error when manually copying and pasting information into another application. This automation also eliminates the need for any additional steps while creating tasks which saves time while also reducing human error when users are entering information manually into other applications. Another benefit of creating tasks directly from email messages is that it allows you to assign tasks directly from any email message received in either application simplifying task creation even further. It also allows you to quickly see who has received the task created directly from an email message which helps alleviate confusion about who needs to attend the meeting or perform the action related to that particular task if needed. Finally it allows you to quickly see who has received the task creation notice directly from an email message helping you streamline communication efforts by clearly showing who has been notified about the task being created but has not yet responded.
Challenges of Integration between Daylite and SugarCRM—Integration with SugarCRM 6 vs 5
There are some challenges encountered when integrating Daylite with SugarCRM 6 compared with SugarCRM 5. Some of these challenges include:
Not being able to print invoices directly from SugarCRM 6 because it does not support PDF printing natively as compared with SugarCRM 5 which does support PDF printing natively through PDFBox version 1.4-5 as mentioned here. https://github.com/dayles/daylite/wiki/Sugarcrm5---pdf-printing-from-Daylite-to-Sugarcrm5 • Not being able to view account details on SugarCRM contacts through the Daylite dashboard as was possible in previous versions of SugarCRM 5 but is currently unavailable in SugarCRM 6 as mentioned here. https://github.com/dayles/daylite/issues/103 • Integration doesn’t work when using Chrome Version 33 (fixed in later versions of Chrome. as mentioned here. https://github.com/dayles/daylite/wiki/Sugarcrm5---Daylite-Custom-SOAP-Connector---Chrome-Version-33 • When viewing accounts you cannot click on any links on accounts such as document links without seeing an error type “Uncaught TypeError. Cannot read property 'get' of null” as mentioned here. https://github.com/dayles/daylite/issues/109 • When viewing contacts from within SugarCRM 6 sometimes only one contact will be displayed despite having more than one contact saved on SugarCRM as mentioned here. https://github.com/dayles/daylite/issues/110 • When viewing estimates from within Daylite some estimates will display as an empty value resulting in 0 amounts being entered into estimates as mentioned here. https://github.com/dayles/daylite/issues/111 These issues have been fixed as of version 2 of the custom SOAP connector however there are still some fixes that need to be implemented on our side as well as some functionality that needs to be added before we can fully utilize new features provided by SugarCRM 6 such as custom fields and custom objects which will make adding fields such as invoice numbers or case numbers easier for example during cases or contacts creation or modification. In addition new features added by SugarCRM include new views which allow you to specify views based on specific criteria such as date range instead of just view based on one criteria alone which is useful if you want a report for a specific period of time rather than just viewing everything based on one criteria alone such as all open cases or all new cases opened within a time period for example. These new views will allow us to save time when needing reports containing information pertaining to specific dates or time periods that we could not easily pull up before now because we had to select individual dates which was time consuming because there were many dates that needed report information pulled up for during the creation process if needed which was less efficient than using these new views added by SugarCRM 6 compared with previous versions of Sugar CRM 5 by far since we could not easily pull up report information based on specific dates instead of individual dates which could
