DataDog is a cloud service that allows you to cplect the data of your application. DataDog provides you with metrics regarding CPU usage, memory usage, network traffic, and many other things. It also gives you information about your deployments. The basic plan is free; for $12 per month, you can get extra features like alerts, notifications, and API access, which would be very helpful in case of an emergency.
BulkGate is a server-side SDK written in Java that can handle incoming HTTP requests in bulk. It could be used to send email in response to all the requests in bulk. It could also be used to send text messages in response to each request. BulkGate could be used to send 5,000 automated phone calls when someone orders a pizza at your website. BulkGate is available for free on GitHub.
Integration of Datadog and BulkGate makes it easier to verify whether or not the bulk API call was successful because it allows you to track the API call by using Datadog API Monitor. API Monitor can be used to track API calls and verify whether the API call was successful. API Monitor could be used to monitor API calls made through BulkGate because API Monitor can help you track API calls that happened in the past 7 days, which means it can be used to track API calls that were made through BulkGate. API Monitor does not require you to set up a lot of complicated configurations. All you have to do is install the Datadog Agent and configure it accordingly so it can work with Datadog and BulkGate and the rest will be done automatically. Datadog Agent is a lightweight agent that runs on all your servers and cplects data from them and sends them to Datadog. The agent displays all the metrics of the server on a single dashboard. The agent will cplect metrics from your servers and send them to Datadog and that will allow you to see how many API calls were made through BulkGate on that server. You can then use Datadog’s API Monitor to check if those APIs were successful or not. If any API call was not successful, you will receive an alert via email and/or SMS and you can take some action based on that alert (e.g., sending a text message back to the person who ordered a pizza at your website.
Benefits of Integration of Datadog and BulkGate include:
Datadog will show you what percentage of all incoming requests are made through BulkGate as compared to all incoming requests as well as how many new users joined as compared to all users of your website. This means that if new users joined as compared to all users of your website, they must have joined because of the automatic phone calls or automated text messages sent upon request. If people receive automated phone calls or automated text messages from your website, they will most likely visit your website again sometime later and make another purchase from your website so you can see a higher conversion rate from that point onwards. This is especially useful for e-commerce websites. You can also track exactly how many automated phone calls or automated text messages were successfully sent out by checking the “Success Rate” cpumn of Datadog’s API Monitor. This will help you determine which incoming URI works best for sending out automated phone calls or automated text messages. You can then use that URI for sending out automated phone calls or automated text messages going forward. If any incoming URI does not work for sending out automated phone calls or automated text messages, you can simply remove it from the integration with BulkGate and use another one instead. You can use Datadog’s API Monitor to monitor any outgoing HTTP requests from BulkGate as well as any errors returned from those outgoing HTTP requests as well as any exceptions thrown as a result of those outgoing HTTP requests as well as any retries made as a result of those outgoing HTTP requests as well as any timeouts incurred as a result of those outgoing HTTP requests because this would help you determine whether the integration between Datadog and BulkGate is working correctly or not, which would then help you improve that integration if it is not working correctly. You can also use Datadog’s API Monitor to determine whether or not your servers are receiving too much traffic as compared to other servers because this would help you determine whether setting up load balancers would be useful for your servers or not. Load balancers distribute incoming traffic across multiple servers so it is unlikely for one server to receive more traffic than the other one, thus making it less likely for one server to crash due to high traffic vpume/vpume of requests hitting one particular server at one particular time.
