  • Integration of Databox and PagerDuty means that Databox will send alerts to PagerDuty when there are significant changes in the applications or servers. In addition, alerts from PagerDuty will be sent to Databox when there are significant changes in the application or the server. For example, if there is a new process which is not known to Databox, then it will send an alert to PagerDuty. If a process in a server crashes in PagerDuty, then it will send an alert to Databox.     In this section, I will demonstrate how Databox and PagerDuty can integrate with each other.

    Step 1. Install Databox on the application or the server that needs to be monitored for changes or events.

    Step 2. Install PagerDuty on the same application or server that needs to be monitored for changes or events.

    Step 3. Configure the application or the server for monitoring with both Databox and PagerDuty. This can be done by creating an account on both Databox and PagerDuty platforms. Then you need to ensure that the users who are able to view these applications or servers can access these platforms.

    Step 4. Set up notifications for Databox and PagerDuty on the related application or server that need to be monitored for changes or events. This can be done by enabling notifications on both Databox and PagerDuty platforms. Additionally, you need to configure alerts in both Databox and PagerDuty. Alerts can include SMS, email, voice call, etc. This step is very important because without notifications the integration cannot work because Databox will not be able to send alerts to PagerDuty because there will no users who will receive these alerts. Furthermore, without notifications the integration cannot work because PagerDuty will not be able to send alerts to Databox because no users will receive these alerts.

    Step 5. Create an alert rule in both Databox and PagerDuty platforms. This step is optional but highly recommended because it allows us to define different rules for each notification platform. For example, if we want only urgent alerts to be sent to voice calls then we can create an alert rule in PagerDuty platform for this purpose only. If we want only critical alerts to be sent to SMS then we can create an alert rule in Databox platform for this purpose only.
