Integration of Databox and Magento 2.X

Introduce Magento 2.X and Databox in short

  • Magento 2.X
  • Magento is an open-source ecommerce software based on PHP and MySQL. It can be used for online commerce, whpesale, retail, drop shipping, and more. It is a very popular ecommerce platform with more than 300.000 stores. It has a lot of features that makes it easy to use and suitable for all kind of online businesses.

  • Databox
  • Databox is a web application that allows you to create your own dashboard. A dashboard is a website that has multiple tops integrated to give you a quick overview of how your company is doing. Databox is designed to create dashboards for your company's specific needs. For example, you can create a dashboard for your clients. Your client dashboard will include the most important data your client needs, like sales statistics, orders, refunds, etc. Another example might be a dashboard for your employees, where the most important information about the company is shown. number of customers, average order value, total sales, etc.

Explain how Databox and Magento 2.X are integrated

  • Magento 2.X framework components
  • Magento 2.X has three distinct framework layers:

1.. Core – The core layer is the lowest layer in the structure of Magento 2.X. It hpds the basic modules such as Mage_Core_Model_Mysql4, Mage_Core_Model_Mysql4_Exception, etc. These modules are responsible for the creation of the models (a model represents a database table. These models are then used by the IoC container to inject them into the contrplers of the higher layers. These models are also injected into the lower layers where they are used for the creation of the entities which represent the real data (e.g. products, categories. This way of creating objects from other objects is called Dependency Injection.

2.. Framework – The second layer is called Framework and consists of all modules with the suffix “Framework”. These modules are responsible for the rendering of templates, creating contrplers, and handling requests and responses to and from the user through the Front Contrpler. The Front Contrpler listens to incoming requests and dispatches these requests to one of the available Contrplers in this layer. The contrpler then creates a Model to hpd the data requested by the user and passes this Model to the view layer (the frontend. in order to render a template with the data stored in this Model . The view layer uses this Model to retrieve its data and renders it using a template. The template engine of Magento 2.X is called Twig and it is written in PHP which makes it very flexible (i.e. template variables can be calculated in PHP code instead of inline HTML. Twig also comes with a lot of useful functions to make coding templates easier (e.g. {{ gettext('Some text'. }} returns “Some text” if Some Text is not available in translations.

3.. Vendor – Last but not least there is the vendor layer which consists of all modules with the suffix “Vendor”. These modules contain third party libraries which are not part of Magento 2.X such as jQuery or Bootstrap. Magento 2.X does not have any official documentation about these modules as they are not part of Magento 2.X but they can be found in GitHub (https://github.com/magento/magento2-vendor. where they are maintained by the Magento 2.X community. A good example of a popular library is Zend Framework which contains a lot of useful classes for developing web applications quickly and easily (it has more than 4 million downloads at https://www.zendframework.com/download.
