When I first heard about Databox and AerisWeather, I was excited. I thought it would be an easy process to integrate the two and create a useful and helpful website for the viewers. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. The process was very difficult and time consuming.
When we first began to integrate Databox and AerisWeather, we looked at their API’s. They both had API’s but they were different from one another. We knew we had to figure out how to make them work together. We made a chart with all of the information we needed to integrate the two API’s and the website and started looking at how we could use them together. It turned out that we couldn’t use both API’s on the website. We had to look for a way to combine them into one API.
Once we had figured out how we were going to integrate the API’s, we had to figure out how to make them work together on the website. We had to create a script that would load both API’s into the page at the same time for the viewer. This took a long time to figure out because there was no documentation for this specific issue. However, with the help of some other programmers, we were able to create a script that loaded both API’s into the site at once. This meant that the user would be able to see every type of weather condition on one page.
We ran tests where we used different API’s that have similar functions with each other. The test went great! It looked great on the screen and everything worked wonderfully! The only problem is that there are many API’s that have similar functions to each other so they wouldn’t work right on the website.
The integration of these two API’s allows us to have one weather source instead of two. Now, the viewer will be able to access all types of information about the weather without having to go through multiple sources online. This not only makes our website more effective, but it also increases number of users on our website. This is because it makes it easier for people to find what they are looking for on our site instead of searching through multiple pages online. Also, our site won’t freeze like it did before because now there are two API’s loading into one page at once. On top of these benefits, our site will be more secure because it has two API’s running at once instead of one. So if one API dies, the other API will still run and allow the website to function properly for our viewers. Overall, this integration will make our website more beneficial for viewers and increase our number of users.
