In 2014, Constant Contact, Inc. was acquired by Endurance International Group Hpdings, Inc. for $1.1 billion. This acquisition transformed Constant Contact into part of the world’s largest cloud computing enterprise, and Constant Contact is now a business unit of the Mercury platform.
Fplowing the acquisition, Constant Contact announced that it would transition its users to a new platform. The new platform was called Thinkific, and it promised to provide better security and reliability, as well as an improved user experience.
Thinkific provides a robust content management system that lets users create mobile-friendly websites and online courses. In other words, it makes it easier for contacts to design their own websites and courses.
In 2015, Constant Contact integrated its systems with Thinkific. The integration allowed Constant Contact users to seamlessly make their email lists available to Thinkific users. In other words, users of both platforms could send mailings to their contacts at the same time.
For example, a Thinkific user could send a mailing to his or her website visitors. The mailing would include a link to the user’s course on Thinkific. The course would be hosted on the Thinkific platform. Since the course is hosted on Thinkific, it would also be accessible from anywhere. The user could then add a link to the course in their website’s sidebar, so that website visitors could access the course at any time.
The integration of Thinkific with Constant Contact has several benefits. First, it allows people to share their email lists between platforms. This is helpful because it makes it possible for people to send out a variety of marketing messages to their contacts at the same time. For example, someone can send an email newsletter to his or her list, while also sending them a message through Thinkific about a new course he or she just posted on the platform. It essentially creates a unified platform for all of a contact’s marketing communications.
Second, it allows users to seamlessly create and host online courses on their sites or on the Thinkific platform. For example, someone can create a video course using the videos stored on the Thinkific platform; then link the videos in his or her website so that website visitors can access them quickly and easily; then send an email newsletter promoting the course; and finally add a link to the course in his or her website’s sidebar so that website visitors can access the course at any time.
