Coda is a web development top that was developed by Panic. It allows web developers to create web sites in a simple, easy to use interface. This program has been developed for the Mac operating system, but has been adapted into a Windows version. The name “Coda” comes from a small bird which flies from tree to tree, so the developers thought the name would be appropriate for a program that allows you to jump from website to website. However, this nickname for the program is not commonly used. In addition to being a program for creating web sites, it also has a FTP client built in. So web developers can work on their web project in Coda and then upload it when they are finished. This allows them to keep track of all their files. Coda also has a built in chat client that allows users to connect with others who also have the program. This chat client also allows users to connect with others who have Adobe Connect installed. The chat client uses Adobe Connect if it is installed on the computer. There is no chat client in Coda when only Coda is installed. In these types of chat sessions, users can create chat rooms or join existing chat rooms. In this chat room, users can talk to each other one-on-one, or everyone can participate in an open chat (where all participants can talk at once. This feature of Coda/Adobe Connect is very helpful for students because it allows them to chat with each other about class topics during class time. This way students don’t need to approach the professor after class and ask questions about material that was covered in class (and also allows the professor to focus on class material rather than answering student questions. A professor could also set up an open chat session before or after class for students who may need help with the material that was covered in class. Another benefit of using Adobe Connect with Coda is that students do not need to install any software onto their personal computers. All they need to do is sign onto the same network where people are using Adobe Connect and they will be able to participate in the chat sessions. Adobe Connect does not require any additional downloads or installations, so there is no extra work invpved for the students.
Integration of Coda and Adobe Connect is very easy. It only requires one step to get started, then users just need to open up the chat client on their computer and they will be able to start chatting with others who are also using Adobe Connect. First, go to www.panic.com/coda/download/ at this site click on the Mac download button on the right hand side of your screen. If you are already using Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 or Mac OS X Lion 10.7 then you will want to choose “Coda 2 Preview 5” if you are using Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.5 then you will want to choose “Coda 2 Preview 4” if you are using Mac OS X Leopard 10.4 then you will want to choose “Coda 2 Preview 3” if you are using Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 then you will want to choose “Coda 2 Preview 2” if you are using Mac OS X Panther 10.3 then you will want to choose “Coda 2 Preview 1” Once you have chosen which version you are downloading, click on “Download Now!” This will take you to a page that gives you more information about the product and gives you more options where you can choose your download destination and your download location if you wish to save it somewhere else on your computer. When this download completes you will have a new icon on your desktop called “Coda-2_Previews” (this may be different depending on what version you downloaded. Double-click on this icon and it will begin to install itself onto your computer (there may be some initial setup steps that you must complete first. When installation completes, quit out of Coda and double-click on the Coda-2_Previews icon again; this should launch Coda and allow you to start talking with others who are using Adobe Connect through their chat client and vice versa (if they wish. You can open up your Adobe Connect software and your Coda chat client and talk with people who are using both programs at the same time! The integration between these two programs is seamless because there is no need for downloading any other software onto the user’s computer as long as they have access to Adobe Connect or another program that supports Adobe Connect such as Yahoo Messenger or Google Talk. As long as they have these programs installed on their computer they can use them whenever they wish without having to download anything else onto their computer other than Coda/Adobe Connect.
There are several benefits of using integration between Coda and Adobe Connect. Cplaboration – One huge benefit of integrating Adobe Connect with Coda is that it enables cplaboration between users who may not necessarily be working together at one time but would like to communicate with each other throughout the course of a project/assignment/etc. In addition, it allows students who may not be able to make it to class every day due to their schedule or illness, etc. – to still stay connected with their peers and instructor even though they can’t physically be in class every day. These students can still stay engaged with the material through the use of Adobe Connect and any other similar software programs that support Adobe Connect such as Yahoo Messenger or Google Talk. Communication – Another benefit of integrating these two programs is that it allows communication between those who may not necessarily be co-located at one time but would like to communicate with each other throughout the course of a project/assignment/etc. In addition, it allows those who aren’t able to make it to class every day due to their schedule or illness, etc. – to still stay connected with their peers and instructor even though they can’t physically be in class every day. These students can still stay engaged with the material through the use of Adobe Connect and any other similar software programs that support Adobe Connect such as Yahoo Messenger or Google Talk.
