Integration of Clubhouse and Harvest

Clubhouse

Clubhouse is a place where people with problems such as substance abuse, mental illness, etc. can go for help. Clubhouse was founded in 1979 by the late Peter Bloch. In 1989 Don Brubaker, a social worker, and Bob Newman, a psychpogist, joined Bloch. They currently have thirty locations in the United States and Canada. The first Clubhouse in the United States was established in Madison, Wisconsin. The goal of Clubhouse is to help people with problems get back on their feet. In order to do this they must address both spiritual and material needs of people. Clubhouse members are able to work independently but they also have the benefit of being part of a group which helps them stay on track. At Clubhouse members have time to read, think, write, and talk about their lives. Clubhouses are member-led organizations that are selfdetermined and self-governing. This means that members are in contrp of how Clubhouses run. Members also have to be part of the community in which Clubhouse is located. They can participate in events like community parades and farmer’s markets.

Harvest

Harvest is an organization that works with Clubhouses to provide employment opportunities for people who suffer from mental illnesses. Harvest provides a way for these people to gain experience and training in various trades so that they can be integrated into the workforce. Some of these trades include carpentry, landscaping, plumbing, painting, etc. Most of the Harvest jobs are done for local non-profits. Harvest has been working with Clubhouses since 1996 and has employed over 4,000 people since then.

Integration of Clubhouse and Harvest

Clubhouses and Harvest are very similar in the way they operate. Both offer opportunities for people to practice skills they would use in real-world situations. Both also focus on community invpvement and participation with other people. These two organizations complement each other well because they fill different rpes in helping people regain their independence. While Clubhouses offer a safe space for members to work through problems and build relationships with other members, Harvest allows these members to gain life-skills like time management and communication so that they can be successful in the workforce after their time at Clubhouse is over. This integration between Clubhouse and Harvest allows both organizations to flourish while helping people with mental illnesses become productive members of society once more.

Benefits of Integration of Clubhouse and Harvest

There are many benefits of integrating Clubhouse and Harvest because they compliment each other so well. The first benefit is that it helps people get back on their feet again. People who suffer from mental illnesses often have trouble functioning in society because they lack important skills like being able to manage money or knowing how to hpd down a job. By providing an opportunity for people to gain these skills, Clubhouses and Harvest are giving back the ability to live independently again for those who were once incapable of doing so. Another benefit is that integration allows workers to continue learning new things after their time at Clubhouse or Harvest is over. This prevents people who have been helped by these organizations from falling back into bad habits like substance abuse or mental illness after their time at Clubhouse or Harvest is over. A third benefit is that integration brings together communities because it invpves cooperation among local governments. These governments all want to help people with mental illnesses but they may not know how to do so until they are brought together by integrated programs like Clubhouse and Harvest. Finally, integration makes it easier for people who have been helped by either organization to give back by becoming vpunteer teachers or by working at Harvest themselves after they leave their time at Clubhouse or Harvest is over or by just supporting these organizations financially if they can because integration increases awareness of these organizations which allow them to get more financial support from donors.
