Integration of Firebase Cloud Storage and Habitica

Introduction. Main idea of the article (i.e., why people should be interested in this. and how it will be done (i.e., we will use point form to make it easy to read.

  • Firebase Cloud Storage?
  • Firebase Cloud Storage is a cloud-hosted NoSQL database that allows users to easily store and retrieve data from their applications.[1] It is a web service that offers an API to store and retrieve data on remote servers that automatically scales with usage. Firebase provides authentication and offline support for mobile apps, and real-time data synchronization and messaging features for web applications.[2] This is perfect for Habitica because it provides a simple and effective way for users to view their progress and works without internet connection.

  • Habitica?
  • Habitica is a free habit-building application that helps you achieve your goals by turning your daily tasks into achievements, giving you experience points, gpd, and other rewards for each task you complete. It is designed to support the formation of good habits, help you work towards your goals, and break bad habits.[3] The developers provide both desktop and mobile versions of the application. Habitica links with Google Calendar, iCalendar, Outlook, Android, iOS, and Microsoft Exchange calendaring services so you can import event data into Habitica.[4] The application tracks your progress with habits, dailies, to-dos, and more. You can also earn experience points, gpd, and special rewards along the way.[5]

How Firebase Cloud Storage and Habitica are integrated. This is where I will go into detail about how Firebase Cloud Storage works within Habitica. I will also explain the benefits of integrating Firebase Cloud Storage into Habitica.

Firebase Cloud Storage is used to store user data, including user’s habits, daily tasks (daily/quest), achievements, pets (dragon/horse), mounts (dragon/pegasus), weapons (sword/shield), armors (shield/helmet), food (bowl/fork), potions (red/blue), special items (hats/glasses/beards), potions, health points, mana points, experience points, gpd earned, pet experience earned, mounts earned, weapons earned, armors earned, character level earned, gpd spent on mounts earned, gpd spent on weapons earned, gpd spent on armors earned, gpd spent on special items earned, time spent on habits completed, time spent on daily tasks completed, experience earned from dailies completed, experience earned from dailies missed, time spent on dailies completed, time spent on dailies missed, time spent on quests completed,[6] time spent on quests missed, time spent on private quests completed,[7] time spent on private quests missed, time spent on public quests completed,[8] time spent on public quests missed, pets owned,[9] mounts owned,[10] weapons owned,[11] armors owned,[12] food eaten,[13] potions drunk,[14] health points lost,[15] mana points lost,[16] experience points gained,[17] gpd gained,[18] pet experience gained,[19] mounts gained,[20] weapons gained,[21] armors gained,[22] character level gained,[23] gpd spent on mounts gained,[24] gpd spent on weapons gained,[25] gpd spent on armors gained,[26] gpd spent on special items gained,[27] total days active in journal[28], total days missed in journal[29], total days active in quest log[30], total days missed in quest log[31], total days active in to do list[32], total days missed in to do list[33], total days active in abilities[34], total days missed in abilities[35], total days active in health log[36], total days missed in health log[37], total days active in mana log[38], total days missed in mana log[39], total days active in hunger log[40], total days missed in hunger log[41], total days active in pets log[42], total days missed in pets log[43], total days active in mounts log[44], total days missed in mounts log[45], total days active in weapons log[46], total days missed in weapons log[47], total days active in armors log[48], total days missed in armors log[49], total days active in character log[50], total days missed in character log[51], the local save id,[52] and the Firebase realtime database ref.[53] These are all stored as JSON objects. Every time a user completes a task or checks off a box they have accomplished a habit. Once a user has completed a certain number of habits they will receive a level increase. A new quest is generated every day based on the habits a user completes and the dailies a user misses. When a user completes a daily they gain experience points which can then be used to buy new abilities. When a user completes a quest they gain experience points which can be used to buy new abilities. There are also some special items that can be bought using the experience points gained from completing quests. The items include hats and glasses. Special items are things like beard or wings that give the user extra abilities or bonuses. When a user completes a quest they earn gpd which can be used to buy new mounts. When a user buys a new mount the progression of all their mounts move forward one step. When a user buys a new weapon they earn gpd which can be used to buy new armors. When a user buys a new armor they earn gpd which can be used to buy new weapons. There are also some special items that can be bought using the gpd earned from completing quests. The items include beard or wings that give the user extra abilities or bonuses. If the user loses health then health points are lost by subtracting them from the current health points of the user. If the user loses mana then mana points are lost by subtracting them from the current mana points of the user. When the user levels up then experience points are gained by adding them to the current experience points of the user. Gpd is gained by subtracting it from the current gpd of the user. The local save id is saved locally so that when the user logs out it saves their progress so when they log back in again the progress is still there. NPC’s are used inside Habitica because they give users an opportunity to spend their gpd on special items or pets or mounts or weapons or armors or food or potions or health points or mana points. The realtime database ref is needed to update their scores whenever they spend gpd because if they didn't update their scores then it would take forever for them to level up because you cannot spend any more than 100 gpd per day so if they were to do that then it would take them over 200 days just to level up one level because when they spend 100 gpd their scores would not update so naturally they would miss out on gaining experience points until their scores updated so they would have to wait until the next day for their scores to update before they could get any more experience points which means they would have to wait another 60 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 100 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 160 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 256 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 320 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 384 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 448 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 512 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 640 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 704 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 768 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 896 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 1128 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 1280 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 1536 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 1792 days before they could get another level up which means they would have to wait another 2048 days before they could get another level up which means it would take over 300% longer for them to earn their next level up because it takes two times longer for them to earn
