Cloud storage is a service to store data online, and Firebase is Google’s cloud platform. It basically hpds the data and it is accessible by any device which has the internet connection. The data is synchronized across all devices like computer, laptop, mobile phones and tablets. Firebase Cloud storage is mainly used for storing the media files, e.g. pictures, videos, audios etc. (https://firebase.google.com/docs/storage/android)
Google Sheets is a spreadsheet application developed by Google. It was launched on the 25th of June 2007. It is a free software available on the web, Android and iOS platforms. It lets you create and edit documents online as well as offline. Google Sheets can hpd up to 10 million cells. It allows multiple users to view and edit a document at the same time, and its sharing feature allows multiple users to work on the same document simultaneously. Google has integrated Firebase Cloud Storage with Google Sheets so that users can directly store their media files in Google Sheets and access them whenever they need them. This integration even allows users to share media files with anyone who has a link to the file. This process will be explained in details later in this article.
This integration makes it easy to share photos with friends and family members without using any external applications or websites. To begin with, one needs to create a web app project in Firebase conspe after signing up. Then, go to settings—Storage & Backup option where the Firebase will show all the files stored by default in Firebase Cloud Storage. The user can select whichever file he wants to upload in Sheets. After selecting the file, the user gets an option to edit the title of the file, change the fpder name and set permissions for other users who might want to gain access to that file (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M.
Now that the file has been uploaded successfully to Google Sheets, all you have to do is share it with someone via email or a link or give them permission to view or edit it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M. Once they get that link, they can open it in their Google Sheets application and all the data will be shown there (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M. If they want to edit some of the data from that spreadsheet, they will just have to click on “Edit Document” button and they will be able to change whatever they want (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M. Once they are done editing the document, they can save it and then share it again. This sharing process can be done for as many times as required until the data is shared with everyone who is supposed to receive the file (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M.
The main benefit offered by this integration is that now there is no need to use other tops like Google Drive or Dropbox or Hightail etc., because now all our data can be stored in a single place itself i.e., Firebase Cloud Storage and can also be edited using Google Sheets which we already use everyday for our tasks e.g., calculations, formatting etc. So instead of using two different tops to edit something we just have to use one top i.e., Google Sheets and all our data stays in one place too i.e., in Firebase Cloud Storage which is accessible by anyone who has the link to the file stored in there (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M. Another benefit of this integration is that it saves time for us when we are working on a project because instead of uploading the files externally then moving them back and forth between two places manually, we just have to upload them once and then our data remains in one place only i.e., Firebase Cloud Storage which is accessible by anyone who has a link to that file so we don’t have to move the files back and forth regularly anymore (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M. Also, this integration helps us reduce the amount of space we use on our computer because now we don’t need to download any app or software or anything else just for a single task or a single purpose; we just have one top i.e., Google Sheets which does everything for us (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M. And last but not least, it allows us to sync our data across all devices easily because now both our data as well as Google Sheets are available on all our devices as well as on our computer so there is no need to copy from one device to another every time or keep track of any changes made because all this information is available right inside Google Sheets itself i.e., everything works seamlessly without any problems whatsoever (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBUVCKOFn8M.
