Integration of Cloud Firestore and TickTick

  • Cloud Firestore?
  • Cloud firestore is a cloud-hosted, NoSQL database with automatic scaling, high availability, and global replication. It gives developers the flexibility to change their data model without application downtime. Firestore supports app development in serverless architectures by providing automatic scaling, high availability, and global replication.

  • TickTick?
  • TickTick is one of the products of TickTick Company Limited that enables to design, plan and organize events. We can use TickTick to invite and manage guests and create an event page which we can share with friends and family to receive RSVPs. TickTick also allows users to view and export their invitations and guests management in PDF format. It also provides event templates for different occasions such as baby shower, wedding, birthday party, etc.

  • Integration of Cloud Firestore and TickTick
  • Since Cloud Firestore is a NoSQL database, it has a flexible schema and can be used with any application for development. So, when integrating Cloud Firestore and TickTick, we may choose to use Cloud Firestore as our backend and build our application on top of it or we may choose to integrate them both together and build our application using the two. As we will see later on, we will build an application using Cloud Firestore and TickTick together. The advantage of this integration is that we will find it easier to maintain the information of the RSVPs in our application.

  • Benefits of Integration of Cloud Firestore and TickTick
  • Some benefits of integrating Cloud Firestore and TickTick are:

Storing information of guests’ RSVPs in a central database. Thus, we may easily access the information of all our guest reservations from anywhere in our application. Building a user interface that implements a simple guest reservation system using a template from TickTick that allows users to create a new reservation by selecting their favored location, date and time. Migrating the existing reservation system from TickTick to Cloud Firestore by creating a new endpoint on Cloud Firestore so that the system can access the information from there instead of from TickTick. Thus, we can have a seamless transition from one application to another while keeping the same functionality. Using Cloud Functions’ triggers to automatically add a new record into a database whenever a user creates a new reservation in TickTick. This will allow us to run some functions automatically whenever a new reservation is created in TickTick. For example, we may use it to send an email to each invited guest including their reservation details or SMS them if they have provided their phone number on TickTick. This will make it easier for us to keep track of our invitation list. So, whether you’re managing your guests reservations via TickTick or via Google Sheets, you’ll get notified whenever someone accepts or declines your invitation.
