Cloud Firestore is a NoSQL document database. It is built on Google's Cloud Datastore technpogy, but is designed to be more developer-friendly. It is a flexible and scalable database for mobile, web, and server development. Cloud Firestore offers automatic throughput scaling, global distribution, real-time data synchronization, offline support, and SDKs for multiple languages.
ServiceNow is an IT service management (ITSM. platform that enables IT organizations to deliver services to their customers. It provides IT organizations with an integrated service delivery platform to plan, execute, monitor and manage IT services. ServiceNow brings together ticketing system, help desk, asset management, change management and more into a single system. The platform includes a smart automation engine that helps IT teams automate routine tasks and streamline their workflow.
ServiceNow has been using Google Cloud Platform since 2011. In 2016, ServiceNow became the first enterprise customer to use Firebase as its backend technpogy. Since then, ServiceNow has continued to build out its Firebase spution and expand its reach into new markets and verticals. Today, ServiceNow’s Firebase offering is one of its fastest growing services both internally and externally. In 2017, ServiceNow launched Cloud Firestore for serverless NoSQL database for mobile, web, and IoT applications.
In an interview with Onalytica in 2018, Sean McBride, VP of Product Management at ServiceNow explained how ServiceNow leverages Firestore in its product:
Firestore is a fully managed NoSQL database that you can use with your existing Angular or React codebases for your apps, so it works with any kind of app that was previously written on the Firebase platform. We found that as we were able to get data in real time out of our Firebase back end, it really helped us do better business intelligence because we could much more quickly see what was going on with the product in production and iterate on those features much faster than we could before.
Speed to market. firebase allows developers to create new features without having to wait for a long period of time while they wait for the necessary information to come back from the backend. Developers are able to see what is happening in real time as users interact with their mobile application or web application using firebase.
Cost savings. firebase allows developers to create their application once and deploy it anywhere. Currently there are over 70 platforms where developers can deploy their firebase applications. This means that developers no longer have to port their applications from one platform to the next. In doing so, developers are able to save money by not having to port their application to each platform and instead focus on creating new features for their application instead.
The process to integrate Cloud Firestore and ServiceNow may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
