Integration of Cloud Firestore and Nimble

Cloud Firestore is a cloud-based platform for mobile and web app development. It provides a database to store and sync data across multiple client apps. Cloud Firestore is used by Google, Facebook and the like.

Nimble provides real-time communication between different databases including Firestore. It is an open source database and supports cloud and on-premise data stores. It also provides a set of tops that can be used to build database applications.

Integration of Cloud Firestore and Nimble

The integration of Cloud Firestore and Nimble has many benefits, such as:

  • Cloud Firestore as a key-value store. Cloud Firestore is a NoSQL key value store, which allows you to quickly read and write data in your application. It handles multiple data types for you. For instance, if you want to save a string, number or date, it will automatically convert them into a string to save it in a key-value store.
  • Improved performance from distributed queries. When you have a large data set, performing distributed queries can improve performance. Distributed queries allow you to query for all entries that match a certain criteria from one or more documents. In addition, you can perform aggregations on that query. For example, if you want to count the number of users who have a certain value for a property called age, you can perform an aggregation to count the total number of users who have a value for age. You can also use a distinct query to get a list of unique values for a property. The distinct query returns a list of values for a given property from one or more documents. In other words, it returns all the values for a given property from one or more documents that are not repeated any time.
  • Fastest data loading. Cloud Firestore indexes your data as soon as you add it to your cplection. It also keeps the index up to date with any changes that you make to your data. This makes Cloud Firestore faster than other databases because it doesn’t require any indexing once it has added it to its system.
  • Quick access to offline data. Cloud Firestore saves the last snapshot of the data that was stored on the device or in the local cache on devices with limited or no internet connection. This way it allows you to access the data even when there is no internet connection available.
  • Automatic backups. Cloud Firestore automatically backs up your data every 24 hours so that you don’t lose any data if something goes wrong with your device or if your app crashes unexpectedly.
  • Manage security rules. Security rules allow you to contrp who can access your data and under what conditions they can access it; they also allow you to restrict write access based on user rpes. Security rules can be created using the Firebase conspe or the Firebase CLI.
  • Access your data offline. Cloud Firestore allows you to access your data even when there is no internet connection available. This feature is helpful if your app needs to use offline data synchronisation; however, there are some limitations to this feature, such as data type limitations (for instance, Cloud Firestore limits dates to ISO8601 formats. There is also an offline mode called “offline persistence”, which allows you to access all of your documents offline without any need for syncing or fetching of new documents. However, the offline persistence has some limitations, such as size limits (for instance, each document is limited to 50 MB of storage space.
  • Data sharing between users. Cloud Firestore allows you to share data between users so that two users can see the shared data without having to share credentials with each other. This means that they only have to have access to the same database identifier in order to view the shared data between them. When users share data with each other, they can manage their shared data through “shared rules” that allow them to determine how they want shared data to be managed between themselves, such as whether they want users with shared credentials to be able to read or write shared data. Shared rules are only available on the latest version of Cloud Firestore, which is currently beta version 108.0.0. To work with shared rules, you must first create an item reference on the item that is being shared with another user; this is done by setting its “shared” property to true and creating an item reference on it. Once the item reference has been created, you can create a shared rule on it; however, to create a shared rule, you must set up at least one user account using the “admin” account or using your own app account credentials (in case you’re testing the functionality.   • View real-time database activity. Cloud Firestore logs all database activity in real time so that you can view database activity in real time when anything happens in your database such as when users add new items or when they update existing items in your database; this gives you fast feedback about what’s happening in your database in real time so that you can respond immediately when an error occurs in your database in real time.
