Cloud Firestore

Cloud Firestore is a cloud database service provided by Google. It is a NoSQL database that enables a user to store and sync data in real time. Data can be stored on any platform as long as the platform is connected to the Internet. In addition, it can be synchronized with other applications such as Kintone.

Cloud Firestore supports two kinds of databases, DocumentDB and Realtime Database. DocumentDB is a multi-document database that allows a user to store, query, and sync documents. Realtime Database is a database that allows a user to store, query and sync real-time data. Realtime Database is suitable for storing data that changes frequently because it does not require users to write additional code for querying and synchronizing data.


Kintone is an application used to create a customized business application. It enables a user to manage documents and information such as tasks, events, and records in a business. Users can also use Kintone to share information with others inside and outside the business. Kintone also has an SDK (Software Development Kit. that can be applied to any application so that users can integrate their business applications with Kintone quickly and easily.

Integration of Cloud Firestore and Kintone

Cloud Firestore can be integrated with Kintone by using its REST API (Application Programming Interface. The steps required for integration are as fplows:

  • Create an application in Kintone
  • Create an app in Google Cloud Platform
  • Create a project in Google Cloud SDK
  • Add an environment variable in Google Cloud SDK
  • Write code in project’s main.dart file
  • Run the application on Kintone
  • Add more custom fields to data model in Kintone

① First, create an application in Kintone. Go to “My Apps” -> “Add App” from the top menu bar. Then enter the app name, select “Add App”. ② Next, set up an app in Google Cloud Platform. Go to “Apps” -> “Create App” from top menu bar and then enter the name of the app and select “Create App”. ③ Next, create a project in Google Cloud SDK. Go to “APIs & Auth” -> “Credentials” from top menu bar and then create a project or select an existing one. ④ After creating a project, add an environment variable in Google Cloud SDK. Go to “API Manager” -> “Library” -> “Projects” from top menu bar and then select the project which was created earlier and click “ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES” on right side of screen. Click “Add Variable” and enter “CLOUD_FIRESTORE_PROJECT_ID” as key and “<project id>” as value. Then click “Save” button on the bottom of page. ⑤ Then enter “CLOUD_FIRESTORE_PROJECT_ID” in Cloud Firestore configuration files and run the codes on your computer by using Dart Editor. ⑥ Finally, open a new browser window, enter fplowing link and then press enter key on your keyboard. https://conspe.cloud.google.com/storage/browser/<project id>?project=<project id>. Make sure you enter correct project id. ⑦ A default page will appear and the URL will change to https://conspe.cloud.google.com/storage/browser/<project id>?project=<project id>. You should see tables like below if everything worked well!
