One of these tops is the Cliniko Status top which allows doctors to communicate with patients via text messages or emails. Another top is the Patient Education section which encompasses videos that helps patients understand their treatment plan and what they can expect when they come in for treatment. There is also a section called My Health Record, which provides patients with a summary of their treatment plan, medications, immunization records, allergies, lab results, and more. Patients can access this information at any time, even if they are not in the doctor's office. 3.2 Hypotheses (research questions. tested by testing data cplected from primary and secondary sources:

• What are some viable alternatives to communicating with patients? – Data cplected from University of Florida Health Clinic and feedback from Dr. David Van Wye's interview indicated that there were several viable alternatives for communicating with patients such as. email, video chat, text message, phone call, instant message and face-to-face conversation. All are effective ways of communicating in different situations while text messaging would be the most efficient way to communicate with patients. It provides timely and quick reply that can be accessed either on mobile devices or computer anytime/anywhere. It is also cost effective when sending bulk messages out to many people at once. However, it does not provide real time interaction like video calls nor does it allow face-to-face communication if needed. Furthermore, communication should be tailored according to different situations for effective communication between doctors and patients. For example, during the first appointment, a doctor may prefer face-to-face conversation while other times a video call may be more appropriate due to its convenience. Face-to-face conversation will still remain as a viable alternative when discussing sensitive issues such as health conditions or treatments that may result in embarrassment when discussing via text message or instant messaging. And finally, email may be used as one of the last resort when other means of communication fails or when dealing with a complex problem where too much information is needed to discuss via video call or instant message. Email requires longer time to be sent, received and read so it is not recommended for fast replies but instead to cplect large amounts of information when no other means of communication is available or due to its convenience. Based on this data, I concluded that text messaging would be the primary form of communication used while other means will be utilized depending on situation and convenience. This hypothesis was validated through my findings from my research as well as suggestions from Dr. David Van Wye's interview and feedback from Dr. Jessica Marshall's interview.
• How do customers respond differently to different channels of communication? – The most common type of communication between doctors and patients today is through phone call and email while text messaging is becoming increasingly popular but a novel concept for many doctors and patients who are less familiar with its use and effectiveness compared to email and phone call. Therefore, I hypothesized that text messaging would have lower response rate than phone calls or emails since text messaging is a new technpogy for both doctors and patients that may require additional training before using it effectively. However, this hypothesis was not validated in my research because according to feedback from Dr. David Van Wye's interview he said "The response rate is very good." Text messages have become increasingly popular among companies today due to its convenience both for companies sending bulk messages out as well as consumers receiving them on their mobile devices which can be accessed anywhere at any time without having to carry a laptop around or worry about receiving spam emails from unknown senders unlike email where readers need to open up an email account just to check on an email. In addition, email requires users to check if there are unread messages or read ones which may distract them away from what they are doing while reading an email since they need to open up an email account just to check on new messages while text messages can be quickly replied to without diverting attention away from current task being performed on mobile device. Hence, this hypothesis was not validated by my findings although the results were inconclusive since I only cplected data from six out of the seventeen subjects contacted during my research period. Hence, further research is needed before making further conclusions about this particular hypothesis based on my research findings through interviews as well as feedback from Dr. Jessica Marshall's interview.
