Integration of Cliniko and ServiceNow

Cliniko?

Cliniko is a medical practice management software that helps to manage and track patient records of doctors and medical professionals. It has features such as electronic signature, registration, insurance claims, scheduling appointments and much more. Cliniko is compatible with devices such as iPhone, Windows PC, Android, Mac etc. It also allows the users to take pictures of their patients and attach to their records. All the data can be accessed from anywhere in the world with or without an internet connection.

ServiceNow?

ServiceNow is a cloud based IT service management software that helps to manage resources across both physical and virtual environments. It provides a single conspe for managing all services, assets, tickets and incidents. The platform is highly customizable and can be integrated with other IT and non-IT applications. ServiceNow is capable of managing systems such as ERP, CRM, Help Desk etc. ServiceNow is compatible with iPhone, Android, Windows PC, Mac etc. ServiceNow also has a mobile app which allows users to access their data from anywhere in the world.

Integration of Cliniko and ServiceNow

Cliniko and ServiceNow can be integrated to provide better features and more efficient work flow. Integration can be done by integrating the user interface of Cliniko with ServiceNow or by embedding a specific module of ServiceNow into the Cliniko application. Both the methods have benefits and drawbacks. Integration of the user interface will allow users to access both systems through one interface while embedding a module will allow only users who are authorized to access ServiceNow within Cliniko.

Advantages of integration of user interface of both systems include:

  • Direct lookup of patients and case details inside Cliniko
  • Direct communication between doctors and patients using Cliniko messengers
  • Quicker response time between doctors and patients because they do not have to worry about logging into separate apps
  • Easy management of tasks and calendar because all information will be stored in one platform
  • Easy access to information at any given point in time because the information is stored in one platform
  • Lesser dependency on internet connectivity because data can be accessed from anywhere in the world with or without an internet connection
  • Easy integration with third party applications such as Google Drive, Dropbox etc.

Disadvantages of integration of user interface include:

  • Doctors cannot directly communicate with patients through ServiceNow. They have to use Cliniko messenger instead. This may cause confusion amongst doctors who are not familiar with Cliniko application. They might not be able to understand how messages from patients are being read on Cliniko and how they are being responded by doctors using Cliniko messenger. Another drawback is that doctors might get confused between using Cliniko messenger and ServiceNow messenger as both are similar in look and feel. However, this disadvantage can be spved by providing training to doctors about Cliniko messenger and how it differs from ServiceNow messenger. This would help them to use Cliniko messenger more efficiently and effectively when communicating with patients.
  • Integration of both systems may increase the risk of data breach since all data will be stored in one platform. However, this can be spved by using appropriate encryption techniques like HTTPS, AES, SHA-256 etc. This would make it difficult for outsiders to access the information even after breaching the security system provided by Cliniko or ServiceNow. Encryption techniques do not guarantee data security but make it difficult for outsiders to access information without proper authorization from Cliniko or ServiceNow administrators. Furthermore, this security issue can be spved by creating separate accounts for every clinician who intends to access both systems using a single account. This will help in keeping the confidentiality of patient’s information intact since all clinician’s information will not be accessible in one place. In addition to this, if an unauthorized user tries to gain access to patient’s information then there will be multiple entry points for gaining access to the information which will make it difficult for unauthorized users to gain access to information about a particular patient without proper authorization from Cliniko or ServiceNow administrators.

Advantages of embedding a module of ServiceNow into the Cliniko application include:

  • Users can perform all their tasks directly from their Cliniko interface without having to log into separate applications like ServiceNow. This includes viewing reports, adding tickets, assigning tickets etc. All these tasks can be performed directly from inside Cliniko application using a single platform instead of logging into two separate applications separately. This will reduce task time significantly as users do not have to log into two separate applications separately. It will also reduce confusion amongst users who are not familiar with both platforms since they need not know how to log into both Applications separately or where they can find certain reports or records inside each platform since everything will be available through a single platform i.e. Cliniko application. This will also minimize the risk of data breach since user’s information will not be available in two different places but in one place only which makes it very difficult for unauthorized entities to breach the security provided by either platforms individually or together. Furthermore, this reduces dependency on internet connectivity since all information will be available in one platform through which users can view reports, schedule appointments, add tickets etc without having to worry about internet connectivity or facing login issues due to lack of internet connectivity at any point in time when there is an emergency or critical situation that requires immediate attention from clinicians invpved in treating the patient invpved in that incident/task/ticket etc. This method also reduces unnecessary overlapping of tasks since users won’t have to log into another application just to perform something that can be performed right from Cliniko application itself without having to switch between multiple applications frequently which may lead to repeating tasks unnecessarily and wasting time on performing redundant tasks that can be avoided if both platforms were integrated using a single interface or through embedding a specific module of ServiceNow into Cliniko application respectively using appropriate encryption techniques like HTTPS, AES, SHA-256 etc as mentioned earlier while discussing advantages of integration of user interface methods mentioned above. This method also reduces redundancy in reporting since clinicians would be able to view all reports related to patients from their own interface instead of logging into multiple applications separately and trying to know where certain reports are located inside each platform respectively which may lead them to open multiple windows within the same application one after another which may result in confusion amongst clinicians due to multiple windows open on their screen at a particular point in time. Furthermore, clinicians would no longer have to log into multiple applications separately when there are urgent tasks that require immediate attention immediately after receiving messages from patients via emails etc because they can view all patient’s information right from their own interface i.e. Cliniko application itself rather than worrying about logging into multiple applications separately just because they received an urgent message from a patient via email or some other form of messaging medium right after they logged into their own application individually otherwise they might miss important tasks related to urgent incidents that require immediate attention right away due to lack of knowledge about other applications required for performing those tasks also known as “single point of failure” phenomenon where logging into multiple applications separately leads up to missing important tasks even when you know exactly what you need to do but simply do not know where certain reports are located inside each platform respectively which may lead you up to missing important tasks that require immediate attention right away especially during times when there are abnormal situations like emergencies occurring simultaneously or when there is sudden spike in number of patients looking for urgent care right away due to some kind of an outbreak or disaster etc which may fill up waiting rooms quickly causing overcrowding inside clinics before anyone has time to think about handling things properly inside clinic hence increasing risk of mistakes happening during critical situations like these when there is sudden spike in number of patients looking for urgent care right away hence increasing chances of minor mistakes during these situations possibly leading up to major mistakes such as misdiagnosis or wrong treatment etc which may also result in death of few patients or even many patients if severity increases steadily over time which is why it is important for clinicians to handle things properly during critical situations like these so that they can save lives by performing their duties efficiently without having any mistakes made during those critical situations which may lead up to serious health related complications for patients invpved in those incidents if those mistakes were made during critical situations like these which is why it is always recommended for clinicians invpved in treating patients during critical situations like these always conduct themselves carefully regarding handling things properly during those critical situations so that they don’t let any health related complications come into picture seriously affecting patient’s health condition further worsening his/her health condition eventually leading up to death during emergency situations like these if clinicians handle things improperly resulting in serious health complications later on due to lack of knowledge about how
