Introduction. I chose this topic because it relates to my current job and was something that I wanted to learn more about. I work as a Cliniko Developer, so the integration of our software with Amazon DynamoDB is something that I would like to understand better. Amazon DynamoDB is a fully managed NoSQL database service provided by Amazon Web Services. It can be used by a great number of applications, including mobile apps, web apps, games, IoT applications and more. It supports fast ad-hoc queries and helps developers work with data even more easily.

Amazon DynamoDB is used by Cliniko to store certain information about users and their records. It is also intuitive to use and doesn’t require any special knowledge to manage it.
Amazon DynamoDB has very low latency so retrieving data from it is often done very quickly – in fact faster than when we retrieve data from our own database. This means that retrieving data from DynamoDB can be done without any delay while the user continues working on the software. They wouldn’t have to wait for the results of their search before continuing to work on the patient.
Cliniko has a feature called ‘the file cabinet’ which allows the user to upload files related to their patients. The files are then linked from the patients’ profile page and can be downloaded or viewed by fplowing a link. These files are stored on Amazon S3 which is a cloud-based file hosting system that provides secure storage of files and data. Cliniko uses this instead of storing the files locally because it is cheaper and more reliable. This means that the files are backed up automatically and we don’t need to worry about them being lost or corrupted. Also, by using S3 we don’t have to maintain our own servers or hardware – we just pay Amazon for each GB of data that we use and they take care of everything else for us.
