The goal of this blog is to share information about Cisco® Webex Teams™ and how it can be integrated with the Firebase Realtime Database.Cisco® Webex Teams is a collaboration tool that helps teams communicate, collaborate, and get work done from anywhere. It allows people to have real-time conversations, share content, and get tasks done from their desktop or mobile device (https://www.webex.com/.
Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud database that stores data in real-time. The data will be synchronized across all devices so that they can access the data at any time and from any location. It also provides offline support so that you can use it while you are offline (https://firebase.google.com/docs/database/realtime-database/.
Firebase Realtime Database can store data objects in its database as soon as they are created or updated within a specified collection. This is very useful for storing data in real-time.
Cisco® Webex Teams allows users to share images, videos, and files in real time. When sharing an image or video, users can add text to the image or video. Adding text to an image or video is achieved by using an annotation feature in the Cisco® Webex Teams application. Users can add text to any image or video by simply tapping the pen icon and writing over the image or video (https://www.webex.com/.
The Firebase Realtime Database will allow users to easily create a structure to store data related to the Cisco® Webex Teams application. With this structure, we can easily retrieve the shared images, videos, and files and merge them into a single PDF file. We can then send this PDF file to a printer with ease by creating an action that will be triggered by a button click event. This action will retrieve the file and send it to the printer installed on the computer running the Google Cloud Print service. The integration of the two applications creates a more productive environment where Cisco® Webex Teams can be used to create documents which will be stored in the Firebase Realtime Database. These documents can then be retrieved from anywhere and printed when needed. The following scenario shows how the integration of these two applications would work.Step 1. User A shares a Cisco® Webex Teams document with User BStep 2. User B clicks on the pen icon to annotate the documentStep 3. User B adds text to the image or videoStep 4. The Firebase Realtime Database saves the document with added textStep 5. User B clicks on “Print” buttonStep 6. Google Cloud Print retrieves document from Firebase Realtime DatabaseStep 7. Google Cloud Print prints document
