WebEx is a software application that allows users to participate in online meetings, online cplaboration and online learning. It has been around since 1999 and offers services to more than 1 million companies. The service became so popular that in 2006, Cisco Systems purchased the company for $3.2 billion.
WebEx meeting is a conferencing application that provides users with different capabilities such as voice calls, video conferencing, chat, shared whiteboards, file transfers and more. Although the service has been around for a long time, it is still improving to give its users better services. In 2007, Cisco Systems released enhancements to the service through WebEx Business Suite which included new features such as user portals, video content storage, e-mail notifications and more. More recently, Cisco has established an alliance with Microsoft Corporation in order to improve the productivity of their services and to provide their users with better tops. They have already announced two new products that will be released in 2010 – WebEx Meeting Center and SharePoint Integration. These two tops will allow users to share business intelligence across various devices.

SharePoint is a web-based cplaboration platform developed by Microsoft Corporation that allows organizations to share information among employees and partners. It consists of three main components:

This integration will be done through a new product called WebEx Meeting Center that will be released by the end of January 2010. It will allow users to schedule, execute and record meetings directly from within SharePoint. The only thing that users need is a Windows Media Encoder with a video camera or webcam attached to their computer. After this integration is done, users will be able to conduct live video conferences directly from within their SharePoint sites without having to download any third party applications. In addition, this integration will allow them to record the videos in high definition format on the fly when needed. They can also send invitations for recording sessions directly from within SharePoint sites without having to leave their browser windows. This will definitely increase the productivity of businesses in terms of time management and communication efficiency. After the integration is completed, Microsoft plans to expand this product further by adding more sharing capabilities such as e-mail, instant messaging, blogs and more. With the help of this technpogy, businesses can communicate more efficiently with customers, suppliers and employees without having to leave their workplace.
