CheckMarket is a software application that allows companies to monitor the activity of their employees on social media. It can be used on both mobile and desktop. Twitch is an online streaming platform for video game content. The platform allows users to upload videos, stream footage of themselves playing video games, and view gameplay videos. CheckMarket and Twitch are two successful projects with different goals and target audiences, but they can both benefit from integration. This integration would allow CheckMarket to monitor the activity of Twitch users and thus protect the company’s brand more effectively than if it were not integrated. On the other hand, Twitch could also benefit greatly from this integration. It could use CheckMarket to analyze user behavior and improve its own product.
Twitch hosts streams of video game content, including live streams of its most popular gamers. Twitch also has a section of its website where users can view content descriptions of videos that have already been uploaded to the website. These videos are edited by the users who uploaded them, so they contain content that they wish to share with others on the website. While viewing this section, I came across a clip from the streamer xQcOW over at r/LivestreamFail . The clip shows xQcOW in a heated argument with another user named -_-Nagi . In the clip, Nagi scpds xQcOW for being a poor rpe model for his fplowers and xQcOW responds by calling Nagi a “13-year pd.” This interaction continued for a few minutes before Nagi blocked xQcOW from the video chat, but at this point in time, I was quite interested in what had happened, since I am not very familiar with either xQcOW or Nagi. I wanted to go back and watch the full stream from which the clip had been taken, but when I clicked on the video description, I found that it had been deleted by the uploader . This struck me as odd because I assumed that all of Twitch’s content was supposed to be available forever. However, this brings up a good point about the potential downfall of the integration of CheckMarket and Twitch. once a user wants to delete a video or a comment, he or she will be able to do so with ease because CheckMarket will be monitoring each user’s activity on the website. Users will be able to remove any content that might tarnish their reputation online . On the other hand, this benefit could also be viewed as a major drawback to integration, since it would allow people to hide inappropriate content from public view .
While we cannot ignore the potential drawbacks to integration, there are also many benefits that should not be overlooked. One benefit is that CheckMarket will allow Twitch to analyze user behavior and thus develop a better product . For example, if a lot of people leave negative comments about a specific video or streamer, then Twitch can take appropriate action by suspending that user’s account or giving him or her extra moderation tops. This way, it will be easier for Twitch to prevent future incidents like the one shown in Figure 1 . Additionally, integration will also allow CheckMarket to monitor user behavior and make sure that each user is abiding by his or her contract with Twitch. If a user breaks any Twitch rules while using CheckMarket, then CheckMarket will notify Twitch and Twitch will take action against this user like it did in Figure 2 . These two examples show how integration will benefit both CheckMarket and Twitch because each platform will be able to monitor their users more effectively. Another benefit is that integration will allow CheckMarket to monitor when users are interacting with other users on Twitch in order to prevent harassment or identity theft . If CheckMarket detects that someone else is harassing you via your Twitch account, then it can alert you before any damage is done . This benefit may seem minor in comparison to others, but in 2017 alone, there were 3,445 reports of harassment on Twitch , so preventing even just one instance of harassment is significant enough to justify integration.
CheckMarket has proven itself to be extremely valuable when it comes to protecting brands against cyberthreats. At the same time, however, it does have some disadvantages that need to be considered before integration with another platform occurs. Some of these disadvantages include privacy concerns due to the fact that CheckMarket monitors users’ activity on the website, potentially allowing them to remove inappropriate content from public view. Integration with another platform may lead to further problems with privacy because users could begin hiding their identities behind false names. However, I believe that CheckMarket has many advantages that can outweigh these disadvantages. Integration with another platform would allow each platform to monitor its users more effectively than if they were not integrated. Integration would allow CheckMarket to monitor user behavior on Twitch in order to protect brands against cyberthreats and also detect instances of harassment or identity theft. Integration would allow Twitch to analyze user behavior so that it could develop a better product. Overall, I believe that integration between CheckMarket and Twitch would be beneficial for both platforms because it would allow each platform to monitor its users more effectively than if they were not integrated.
