In this paper I will explain what Chatter and OneNote are, how they integrate, and the benefits of integrating the two.First, I will explain what Chatter is. Chatter is a social network that is built into Microsoft Office 365. It is a cloud-based collaboration platform that was first introduced in 2010. The idea behind Chatter is to allow employees to share ideas and information with one another by creating a network of information. Chatter allows teams to work more efficiently by sharing important information with one another in real time.Chatter works alongside Microsoft Office 365. This means that a user must have an account before using Chatter. Users can sign up for an account at www.chatter.com . There are many different ways to get in contact with Chatter. A user can send messages through instant messenger, e-mail, or Skype.Chatter has many features including document sharing, polls, status updates, ratings, discussions, etc…Next, I will explain what OneNote is. OneNote is a note-taking application that is part of the Microsoft Office suite of products. It makes it easy for users to take notes in the form of text, pictures, videos, audio recordings, etc…OneNote works across platforms which means that a user can create notes on their computer and continue them on their phone or tablet.OneNote is not a stand alone program but rather an add-on for Microsoft Office products like Word and Excel. This means that if you do not already have Microsoft Office then OneNote will not work on its own.OneNote can be accessed online and offline which makes it perfect for storing information on the go.
Now I will explain how Chatter and OneNote integrate with each other. The integration between the two creates an even better environment for working together as a team. One of the great things about having both Chatter and OneNote is that users can share all of their notes within their organization on Chatter. This allows everyone to access important information in real time.Another great feature about the integration between OneNote and Chatter is that users can share information with people outside of their organization on Chatter too. This way they can collaborate with people from other companies on big projects.Workplace newsfeeds are very helpful because users can stay up to date on important company news and announcements all in one place.Users can also post discussions on Chatter related to specific documents that they are working on in OneNote. This way everyone working on a project has access to feedback and comments from everyone else working on the project.Users can also post chat messages directly onto their OneNote pages so that everyone who has access to the page can see the message in real time. This way everyone always has access to important information from anyone at anytime. Finally, users can live-link chats to actual documents so that anyone who has access to those documents also has access to any discussions being held in chat about that document. This allows everyone who has access to the document to stay up to date with any changes made to it by others at any time.
Every user in an organization should have both Chatter and OneNote because of all of the beneficial features these two programs have to offer. With the integration between Chatter and OneNote it is easy for employees to stay updated within their organization while collaborating with people outside of the company too.
