Chatter is a social collaboration platform designed to help organizations increase the speed and efficiency with which they collaborate, while providing an easy means to access enterprise data and communicate with others. Chatter is a tool that can be used to manage several different business processes, such as customer engagement, marketing, sales, service, and support. By integrating Chatter with Asana, users have a single application that can be used to manage both tasks and relationships.

Asana is a project management tool that provides a simple, visual interface for teams to create and assign tasks, share files, chat in real time, and schedule meetings. Asana can be used as a stand alone tool or integrated with other applications to increase the effectiveness of managing tasks and projects.

    Integration of Chatter and Asana

Chatter can be integrated with Asana to enable users to create tasks within Asana and track them within Chatter. In order to integrate Chatter with Asana, developers need to use the Chatter REST API to send events from Asana into Chatter. In return, these events are converted from Chatter messages into tasks in Asana. The following steps are required in order to integrate Chatter with Asana.Step 1 – Convert Asana task created by a user into a message in Chatter, using the Chatter REST API. This message will contain information about the task created in Asana so that it appears in the correct context for users who are viewing Chatter.Step 2 - Convert a message in Chatter to a task in Asana. This task will contain information about the message in order to provide an accurate description of what the task entails.Step 3 - Create a workflow between the two tasks. This workflow will determine how actions taken on one task affect the other task. For example, if a user creates a task in Asana, but then updates the task in Asana after it has been sent to Chatter, the task in Chatter should also be updated. If a user comments on a task in Chatter, then all users who view the task in Asana should see that comment reflected in their view of the task. If a user deletes a task in Chatter, then the corresponding task in Asana should also be deleted. Additionally, any new comments entered on either task should result in new comments appearing on both tasks.Step 4 - Create a notification rule for when an action takes place in one of the related tasks. For example, if a user edits or completes a task in Asana, then that action should trigger a notification sent to all users who have been assigned to that task in Chatter. Likewise, if a user creates or updates a task in Chatter, then that action should trigger a notification sent to all relevant users who have been assigned to that task in Asana.
