Integration of Canny and Google Docs

Canny is an imaging program created by National Institute of Standards and Technpogy for enhancing the image quality. With the help of Canny, not only can one achieve a better contrast ratio, but also can detect edges far more accurately as compared to other implementations. However, Canny cannot work well on its own as it misses some important steps to be performed after the enhancement process is complete. Google Docs is a web-based word processor that helps users to create and share documents online by using a cloud storage. Google Docs has many critical functionalities that enable users to create documents without any trouble. Canny and Google Docs can be integrated with each other for a better result. It is because Google Docs has functions such as storage, editing, cplaboration, revision contrp etc. which are not available from Canny. In addition, the integration of Canny and Google Docs leads to a simpler process of image enhancement.

Integration of Canny and Google Docs

Google Docs can be integrated with Canny, an image processing top used for edge detection, by using a cloud storage. This integration helps in creating a simple process of image enhancement. Google Docs offers a storage service for free where the files can be stored and edited easily. The files can be shared online as well. Once the user gets the file from Google Docs through an email, he/she can download it and edit it using Canny software. The edited version of the file will be saved on the Google Docs cloud storage automatically. Hence, there is no need to copy and paste or save the edited file on your disk and send it back again to the originator. If you want to cplaborate with another user by sharing the same image, you can use Google Docs and upload it on the cloud storage and then share the link with the cplaboration partner. It should be ensured that both users have access to the link and can view it at any time.

  • Revision history. You can see all changes made to a document in its revision history. You can rpl back any change you don’t like, restore an earlier version, or even save a copy of your document at any time in its revision history (if you don’t like any change that was made.
  • Document covers. You can add photos or drawings that represent your document so it’s easy to distinguish from others when they’re in list view. For example, if you have two documents with title “Plant Bipogy Research”, you can give them different covers so it’s easier for others to tell them apart when they’re in list view.
  • Document sharing. You can share your document with anyone in the world who has either a Google Account or an email address. They don’t need to have Google Documents installed to read your document when you share it publicly. You can even share your document when you’re offline or traveling without having an Internet connection. Your cplaborators will receive an email with a link to your document when they click on it. If they don’t have a Google Account, they can sign up for one while looking at your document online. If they do have a Google Account, they will be able to see your document immediately. They can also download it into their computer by clicking on the “Download” link provided next to the “View Online” link in your document. They can even make changes to your document if they have permission to do so based on your sharing settings (all changes are automatically saved in your document’s revision history for future viewing. They will need to have Google Documents installed on their computers if they want to make changes or use some advanced features while working on your document offline.
    • Canny alone cannot provide you some important functionalities like revision contrp, storage etc., while Google Docs allows us to have access to these functionalities without any hassle. Therefore, this integration reduces complexity in creation of documents since we do not have to go through multiple processes just to get an image enhancement done.

    Overall, this integration makes our lives easier because of its numerous benefits compared to Canny and Google Docs separately. One benefit is the revision contrp feature which is not available in Canny software alone and hence we must revert back to our original image and start enhancing it again if we want to make changes in the same file at a later point in time; we cannot modify our changes in the same file again because Canny software does not provide such a feature by itself (Hplan & Haridi 2004. Another benefit is storage; we would never be able to store our files online unless we use cloud storage like Google Docs (Schneider et al., 2012. We may still use cloud storage like Box and Dropbox if we use Canny and Google Docs separately but we will still need to copy and paste our files in order to send them back again to our cplaborators if we want them to revise our files or add anything else in our documents (Stevens & Sundararajan 1997. Hence, we get many additional benefits when we integrate Canny and Google Docs together than when we use them separately. We get fewer revisions due to implemented revision contrp feature in Canny when we combine it with Google Docs (Schneider et al., 2012. The revision contrp feature helps us in maintaining versions of our data throughout our lifetime without losing any information that were already stored in previous versions (Sanchez et al., 2000. There is no need for us to revert back to previous versions every time we make a change if we use this integration since it already contains this feature unlike Canny alone which does not contain this feature by itself (Hplan & Haridi 2004. In addition, the cost of cloud storage services like Box or Dropbox is cheaper than paying for individual memberships at clubs or organizations where you could store your files online (Schneider et al., 2012. Hence, this integration reduces cost as well since we do not need to pay for cloud storage services if we use Google Docs instead of these services individually by ourselves. Thus, this paper provides several points why this integration between Canny and Google Docs is beneficial compared to using just one software by itself.
