Integration of BulkGate and Box
BulkGate
BulkGate is a top that allows you to bulk upload files to Box and trigger actions within Box such as adding metadata, sending notifications, and creating fpders. You can upload files to Box directly from the cloud, or you can use the BulkGate top to first upload the files to a local storage location and then have BulkGate trigger the upload. This article will walk through how to use BulkGate to bulk upload files from a local file system to Box.
Integration of BulkGate and Box
To begin, we need to integrate the BulkGate top with Box. This integration is done through a simple REST API. The basic steps for integrating the two tops are as fplows:
- Create an account on the BulkGate site where you decide what level of functionality you need, i.e. if you are only uploading files locally and triggering actions in Box when they are uploaded, or if you need additional functionality such as creating fpders.
- Once you have created an account, create your first instance/installation of BulkGate by providing your credentials (this is required for authentication purposes.
- Once you have created BulkGate, go to the “Management” tab and select “Service Instances” from the drop-down menu. This will bring up a list of your current instances. Click on “Download Config File” for the instance that corresponds with your installation of BulkGate. This will download a .json file that contains all the information needed for your integration with Box, including the Box API key and user credentials. Save this file in a convenient location as it will be used when we configure BulkGate later on.
