Integration of Box and Twitch

Box and Twitch are two of the most dynamic companies in the market today; however, they are also two of the most competitive. Both companies are constantly trying to outdo one another, and their main competitors are the same. The reason I am choosing to focus on these two companies is because they are both rivals, but they are also partners. They both provide video streaming services; however, Twitch is the company that provides the platform for Box to live stream content. This is a very interesting situation that will be explored further in this paper.

Integration of Box and Twitch

Since Box is the company that relies on Twitch for its service, it is important to understand how integration works between them. The first step is the content creator. A content creator is anyone who creates content for Box or Twitch, whether it be a game or a movie. As stated by Twitch’s creator, “Twitch is the world’s leading social video platform and community for gamers” (Twitch. Content creators stream their content through this channel, and it is then viewed by another Twitch channel called an “affiliate” channel. Affiliate channels are created by viewers who want to try broadcasting. Once a broadcaster has an affiliate channel, they can make money off of their streams by adding advertisements to their broadcasts. However, there are two ways affiliate channels can make money. The first way is through donations from viewers, which are based on what the viewer is watching. The second way affiliates make money is through subscriptions. Subscriptions are charged monthly to viewers that want to support the broadcaster’s channel. Once viewers start donating or subscribing, the affiliate starts making money off of their broadcasts.

However, if a broadcaster wants to make money off of more than just their broadcasts, they must sign up for Twitch Prime. Twitch Prime is a free service offered by Amazon to its Prime members. Twitch Prime members receive more benefits than regular users on Twitch including more emotes, ad-free viewing of broadcasts, and free games every month. If a broadcaster signs up for Twitch Prime, they can create what is called a “partnered channel”. Partners are Twitch broadcasters who have reached a certain number of fplowers on their channel or have been invited into partnership with Twitch by being chosen as one of the top broadcasters on the site. Partners receive even more benefits than affiliates, including higher pay per view. Through partnership, broadcasters can earn more money from their broadcasts since they have a larger reach and probably have more subscribers.

Benefits of Integration of Box and Twitch

In addition to increased earnings from partnered channels and Twitch Prime, there are many other benefits for integrating Box and Twitch together. First of all, when Box integrates with Twitch it increases its popularity in the market. Who doesn’t know about Twitch? It is a well-known platform that almost everyone uses in one form or another. Even though Box isn’t necessarily a competitor in the market, it is competing with other platforms in terms of views and revenue, so it makes sense to integrate with them since everyone knows about them anyway. Every time someone logs onto Box because they saw something on Twitch, the company gets more views and revenue. Another benefit of integration is flexibility. When Box was first created it was not made to be streamed; however, when Twitch came along Box was able to add this feature because of its relationship with Twitch. This means that if another streaming platform comes along in the future that Box could easily add this feature into its platform as well since it already has experience with integrating with a streaming platform. This decision saves a lot of time and money for both brands because they don’t have to create a whpe new system for livestreaming; instead they can simply add the new service onto their existing infrastructure.

In conclusion, Box and Twitch are both effective at integrating because it increases both companies’ earnings and popularity in the market. However, there were some challenges that came along with integrating such as the fact that the platforms were originally not designed for livestreaming and required an update in order to work together seamlessly. Despite this challenge, integration benefited both companies and will continue to do so into the future as long as their relationship continues.
