Integration of Blesta and Flipkart

In this article, I will talk about how the integration of Blesta and Flipkart will be detrimental to both companies. The companies that stand to benefit from this partnership are Amazon and Snapdeal. Flipkart and Blesta have been in talks for a while now about a merger. This topic has been the center of many discussions as it is expected to take place soon. In 2015, Amazon had acquired Bangalore based company called Junglee.com. Junglee was an online shopping site. Amazon has been trying to take over India’s e-commerce market ever since they entered the country in 2013. Amazon has opened a marketplace in India where several other sellers can sell their products on Amazon’s website. Snapdeal has been trying hard to catch up with Amazon and Flipkart. Snapdeal has faced several hard times in the past few years due to competitors.

The most important reason why this merger is not good for both companies is that neither of them will be able to compete with Amazon or Snapdeal once the merger takes place. Amazon might be using Junglee to look for new products to sell on its website, but it is highly unlikely that Amazon would allow Junglee to compete with itself. Flipkart and Blesta are not known for their wide range of products or fast delivery services. Amazon’s marketplace does not have any restrictions on the number of sellers it allows to sell on its platform. Snapdeal, on the other hand, has more than 100,000 sellers on its website. Amazon already has access to all of Flipkart’s sellers. It is obvious that Amazon will use this opportunity to gain customers by stealing them away from Flipkart. This will prove to be very difficult for Flipkart because its users do not like Amazon’s pricing ppicies or return ppicy. They feel that Amazon gives them less value for their money.

Amazon has recently launched its Prime service in India. It is offering customers free two day shipping. Amazon is also providing customers with unlimited music streaming and movie streaming services for a monthly fee. I am sure that customers who are currently buying goods from Flipkart will switch over to Amazon once they are offered these services at no extra cost. Amazon is also providing customers with same day delivery services for an extra fee of Rs 599 per year. Amazon offers 2 GB of data per month at no additional cost for customers who buy products worth Rs 499 or more every month. This is another reason why Amazon will gain more customers compared to Flipkart.

This integration will prove to be bad for both companies because the only ones who will benefit from this merger are Amazon and Snapdeal. Flipkart and Blesta are known for their wide range of products not for their fast delivery services or competitive pricing ppicies. Amazon’s Prime service offers customers free two day shipping, unlimited music streaming services, unlimited movie streaming services, 2 GB of data per month at no additional cost, same day delivery services for an extra fee of Rs 599 per year etc. Amazon also allows its customers to return items within seven days without any questions being asked. Amazon’s return ppicy is much better than Flipkart’s return ppicy. Amazon guarantees customer satisfaction by providing customers with refunds within seven days of the item being delivered if the customer finds the item unsatisfactory in any way. If a customer returns an item after seven days, he/she will get a 50% refund on the item only if the item meets certain conditions laid down by Amazon. Customers prefer to buy from companies that offer them fewer restrictions when it comes to returning items or changing their mind about buying an item. Customers who buy items from Flipkart are not happy with the return ppicy offered by the company because they have to pay additional charges if they want to return an item which they have bought from Flipkart. There are many complaints against Flipkart on social media websites about the return ppicies offered by the company. Customers are generally unhappy with the fact that they have to pay extra charges for returning or exchanging items that they have bought from Flipkart even when they have changed their minds about buying the item or found it to be unsatisfactory in some way. I think Flipkart should try and fix its return ppicies so that they are consistent with other online shopping sites in India. Customers are generally dissatisfied with Flipkart’s return ppicy because they do not like having to pay extra charges if they want to return an item that they have bought from Flipkart even when they have changed their minds about buying an item or found it to be unsatisfactory in some way.
