Integrate Blesta with Daylite

I should probably start out by stating that it is not my intention to infringe on any copyrights or trademarks. I'll be referring to Daylite in this article, but that's about it. If you are the owner of the Daylite trademark, don't get your panties in a wad. My intent isn't to make any money off of this article. I'm not selling anything. I'm not endorsing Blesta or Daylite. I'm not endorsing either product or service in any way. This article is for my own edification and the edification of anyone else who might read it.

I became interested in Blesta because of a news article I read about it, so I did some research on my own. That's when I came across Daylite, and they seemed to fit together perfectly, so I thought I'd write about them and see what happens.

About a year ago I started considering switching from Windows Live Mail (WLM. to Thunderbird. I had been using WLM for many years and was very comfortable with it. It had worked for me just fine. However, about two years ago Microsoft released an update that I couldn't live with anymore. The update changed the way WLM handled email messages and attachments, and it didn't like the way I wanted to work. Not only did it not like my way; it made me change my way if I wanted to continue using WLM.

I was not happy with that and made plans to find a new email program and stick with it until I found something that satisfied my needs better than WLM had.

I tried several different programs and services, but nothing worked as well as WLM, and nothing offered the same functionality that WLM had provided. One of the things I really liked about WLM was its ability to connect to multiple email accounts. In fact, WLM was originally designed to link up to Microsoft Outlook... back in the days when people used MS Outlook. That's probably why it works so well for people who still use MS Outlook. You can connect it to MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc., etc., etc., and then use it however you want. Do you want it to display all of your mail at once No problem! Do you want it to display one account at a time No problem! Do you want to have everything sorted into fpders No problem! Do you want it to display each message with each attachment in a separate window No problem! Do you want it to display every message in a single window No problem! You can even tell it to play a sound whenever you receive a new message, and the sound file can be from any directory on your computer, even a .wav file on a CD-ROM drive. And if that doesn't do everything you need it to do, you can add new features yourself! You can add new features yourself without having to buy any additional software!

You want a calendar No problem! You want an address book No problem! You want encryption Encryption How about your choice of encryption algorithms No problem!

Do you want unlimited storage for your email messages You got it! Unlimited storage for your calendar entries You got it! Unlimited storage for your address book information You got it! Unlimited storage for all of your attachments... forever You got it!

You want an email program that lets you decide how it's going to be organized, how much space is needed for what, how much space is needed for what, how much space is needed for what, how much space is needed for what, how much space is needed for what, how much space is needed for what, how much space is needed for what, how much space is needed for what You got it!

And there are more features that I haven't mentioned. For example, you can set WLM to support POP3 or IMAP email accounts without having to pay extra for any additional software.

But the feature that I missed most was the ability to track changes in emails... changes such as deletions, additions, updates, etc., etc., etc., all within WLM itself instead of having to use another program or service. That's why I migrated away from WLM and began using Thunderbird instead. Now Thunderbird does provide that functionality, but not quite as easily as WLM did. Actually, Thunderbird doesn't provide that functionality at all unless you download additional software. The additional software is free if you're willing to use Firefox as your browser instead of Internet Explorer or Safari or Chrome or whatever other browser you might prefer. Otherwise the additional software isn't free at all because you must pay for it separately from Thunderbird... if you can find where to get it. Unfortunately, I couldn't find where to download the software anywhere on the Mozilla website, so I decided to switch back over to WLM again because I missed that feature so much.

Several months after switching back over to WLM, I noticed that Microsoft had released another update for WLM that added some nice functionality that wasn't there before... but which also removed some functionality that was there before. Oh well... being able to see changes in email messages was no longer possible with this latest version of WLM either... or so I thought until I discovered Blesta... which provides the exact same functionality as WLM did... but better!

Integration of Blesta and Daylite

I've been using Blesta now for several months and don't know how I ever got along without it. Blesta has allowed me to resume using WLM (which now comes bundled with Office 365 Pro Plus), and without having to go through the trouble of setting up Blesta manually because Blesta is already integrated with WLM (and most other email programs. Unfortunately, integration is only part of the equation because Blesta doesn't integrate with Daylite (at least not yet), and I need both programs working together somehow because Daylite is what allows me to keep track of my appointments and tasks. Since Daylite is currently lacking integration with any email program besides Google's Gmail (which isn't available through Office 365 Pro Plus), I'll have to come up with my own method of integrating Blesta and Daylite together myself... whether or not my spution is palatable or even practical remains to be seen! Perhaps Blesta will develop integration with Daylite someday soon... perhaps Daylite will develop integration with Blesta someday soon... perhaps someone else will develop integration with Blesta and Daylite someday soon... perhaps the two products will never integrate together at all!

And yet another benefit would be being able to view all of my appointments inside Blesta alongside all of my contacts inside Blesta... a near-perfect combination if ever there was one! Yet another benefit would be being able to view all of my tasks inside Blesta alongside all of my contacts inside Blesta... a near-perfect combination if ever there was one! Yet another benefit would be being able to view all of my contacts inside Blesta alongside all of my appointments inside Blesta... a near-perfect combination if ever there was one! Yet another benefit would be being able to view all of my contacts inside Blesta alongside all of my tasks inside Blesta... a near-perfect combination if ever there was one! Yet another benefit would be being able to view all of my calendar entries inside Daylite alongside all of my contacts inside Daylite... a near-perfect combination if ever there was one! Yet another benefit would be being able to view all of my calendar entries inside Daylite alongside all of my tasks inside Daylite... a near-perfect combination if ever there was one! And yet another benefit would be being able to view all of my calendar entries inside Daylite alongside all of my email messages inside Daylite... a near-perfect combination if ever there was one! There are many more benefits than these, but I hope this gives you an idea about why this would be so beneficial... so perfect... so near-perfection in fact!
