Integration of BigCommerce and Canny

BigCommerce is the leading e-commerce software and cloud platform for running an online store.

The company was founded in 2009 by Eddie Machaalani and Sean Hyman, who previously worked together at Web.com (WCOM.

In 2011, BigCommerce received a $10 million Series A funding round from Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, and Pitango Venture Capital. In May 2012, BigCommerce announced that it had raised an additional $25 million in funding led by Matrix Partners and Bessemer Venture Partners.

In August 2013, BigCommerce raised another $50 million in Series D funding led by Tiger Global Management. The round was one of the largest capital raises ever among technpogy companies in Austin.

As of 2018, BigCommerce has raised over $225 million in funding.

BigCommerce is headquartered in Austin, Texas with offices in San Mateo, California; London, England; and Sydney, Australia.

The software is available in two forms. as a hosted spution, and as software that can be installed on a customer’s own server infrastructure. Both versions are provided with free support. In 2014, BigCommerce acquired Magento competitor Storefront to strengthen its e-commerce management platform offering.

In 2017, BigCommerce announced a partnership with Canny, an AI-powered pricing optimization provider based in San Francisco, CA with offices in New York City. This partnership combines the BigCommerce merchant suite with Canny’s artificial intelligence driven pricing optimization software to help merchants deliver relevant prices to customers based on their individual intent and context.

Integration of BigCommerce and Canny

BigCommerce and Canny have partnered to help merchants optimize their pricing and product recommendations to help shoppers find the right products at the right time. The BigCommerce store owner will receive a Canny integration guide once they sign up for the Canny pricing optimization top in their BigCommerce admin panel. Once enabled, this integration helps merchants provide intelligent recommendations to shoppers based on their individual behavior and intent. Merchants will be able to use the Canny price optimizer to increase average order values through suggested upsells and cross-sells. Merchants will also be able to leverage the power of Canny’s dynamic pricing engine to set personalized prices which adjust based on each shopper’s individual context. The price changes will be completely automated without disrupting the shopping experience. The benefits of integrating BigCommerce and Canny include:

  • Set dynamic prices based on individual shopper behavior and intent. Dynamic prices enable merchants to only charge what they should for each product or service. For example, if a customer is looking at a page that features multiple products or services, certain items may be configured to have dynamic prices that adjust based on the customer’s purchase history while others may be set to a fixed price. Items set to dynamic pricing will change their price as the customer makes selections and moves around the page, or as their shopping cart fills up –even after checkout. Using Canny’s dynamic pricing engine enables merchants to set the right price at the right time for each product in order to get more sales and maximize revenue.
  • Automate intelligent product recommendations. Intelligent product recommendations are not limited to price changes but can also be used for recommending products or services to customers based on individual shopping behaviors and intent. Using these intelligent recommendations can increase average order values by suggesting upsells or cross-sells for each customer. For example, if a customer sees “Your Cart” or “Checkout” on their screen they might see recommendations for related products or services or other products that they were interested in purchasing but didn’t buy due to lack of time or knowledge about the product or service (see below. Based on past purchases, some products are more likely to be chosen than others so using intelligent product recommendations can help increase average order value and bring customers back to make a repeat purchase.
  • Delight customers with relevant products and services. Relevant products & services recommendations can be used by merchants to gently suggest add-ons or side-by-side offers during checkout or after a customer is finished shopping. For example, if they see “Your Cart” or “Checkout” on their screen they might see recommendations for related products or services or other products that they were interested in purchasing but didn’t buy due to lack of time or knowledge about the product (see below. These types of relevant add-on or side-by-side recommendations help increase average order value by gently introducing products that the customer might not have thought about buying when they first made their purchase or browsed around your store. By using these recommended add-ons or side-by-side offerings during checkout you can show them items they might not have thought about adding before they check out. Another way you can use these intelligent recommendations is during browsing when the customer is finished looking at your website but still has time left on their browser session. Instead of showing them a generic advertisement about your business you can show them a relevant product or service recommendation such as a related item or service page which might make upgrading easier or increase average order value by getting them invpved with your business again before they leave your site.
