Integration of BigCommerce and Amazon SQS

BigCommerce is a software as a service e-commerce platform that allows merchants to design, setup and manage their online stores. It was founded in 2009 and has been widely adopted by small businesses. Built on top of the Salesforce.com cloud computing platform, BigCommerce helps users launch an online store in less than an hour, integrate with social media, manage multiple payment gateways and mobile payments, and launch marketing campaigns to drive traffic to their stores. As of August 2014, BigCommerce reported $1 billion in annual sales for its client base.

Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS. is a distributed queueing system that enables decoupled communication between systems anywhere on the internet. SQS guarantees at-least-once message delivery and supports both push and pull messaging models. It provides strong durability and availability guarantees and scales automatically from a few messages per second to thousands of messages per second. SQS is designed for distributed applications that run on Amazon Web Services (AWS.

For years, the two companies have been competitors in the cloud computing space. BigCommerce has spent time building up its brand recognition and market share in the SMB segment. Meanwhile, Amazon has been actively attacking the SaaS space with Amazon Web Services (AWS. and the introduction of Amazon Marketplace, which serves as an online retail alternative to BigCommerce.

Amazon recently announced its plans to build a “voice-controlled intelligent personal assistant” called Alexa, which would compete directly with Apple’s Siri and Google’s Google Now. It is not yet clear how Amazon will go about integrating the product into its marketplace, but it is likely that it will be available through Amazon Echo, a smart speaker similar to an Apple HomePod or Google Home that uses Alexa to provide information, play music, control smart devices, read the news, set alarms, and more. The expected launch date of Amazon Echo is before October 31st of 2017.

Integration of BigCommerce and Amazon SQS

BigCommerce continues to follow its strategy of focusing on SMBs by providing a robust set of tools to help them sell more products online. In this case, it added integration with Amazon SQS to allow its customers to send messages between their BigCommerce stores and their apps via Amazon’s messaging service. This provides customers with an integrated solution so that they don’t need to handle any back-end integration.

Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS. supports push and pull messaging models using RESTful APIs over HTTP/HTTPS or using one of the provided SDKs for Java, .NET (C#), PHP, Python or Ruby. Using Amazon SQS as a messaging service could be beneficial for BigCommerce customers because it would allow them to push notifications to customers when they offer promotions or discounts or even when they make changes to their inventory. For instance, they could use Amazon SQS as an edge notification system for inventory updates. The notifications can be pushed to customers using their phones or other connected devices such as smart watches or Google Glasses. This would allow customers to get real-time notifications about the offers instead of having to check the site manually.

Benefits of Integration of BigCommerce and Amazon SQS

The integration of Amazon SQS with BigCommerce could allow customers to improve their user experience by notifying them about sales and events through targeted push notifications. This would increase customer loyalty and make them feel more engaged with the brand itself thus increasing average order value (AOV. Also, this would save customers money by allowing them to avoid spending money on sending notifications through third party services such as Twilio or Urban Airship where they have to pay for SMS messages being sent out to customers. This integration would also reduce the overhead costs for customer support because customers would receive all their notifications from one place – BigCommerce.

Amazon SQS is a great fit for BigCommerce because Big Commerce can bring in more customers and increase average order value (AOV. through targeted push notifications. This integration also reduces support overhead by centralizing notifications into one place. On the other hand, Amazon can benefit from this partnership too because there are already millions of people using BigCommerce as their e-commerce platform who can now start using AWS services such as Amazon SQS seamlessly without requiring much effort.

The process to integrate BigCommerce and Amazon SQS may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick solution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
