Basecamp Classic is a project management software that allows users to organize their projects into multiple workflows. It was created in 2004 by 37signals, a web application development company. The core feature of the program is the ability for users to communicate and collaborate with each other through different online tools such as the Campfire chatroom and the Campfire group email. The program also has features that allow users to assign tasks and create due dates within the different projects.
Basecamp Classic has been updated twice since its inception. In 2007, 37signals released Basecamp 2, which added more flexible task creation options, increased functionality for calendar events, and a mobile interface. In 2013, 37signals released Basecamp 3, which included a full-screen mode, drag-and-drop functionality for moving files and adding attachments, and a new default theme called "Theater".
