Basecamp is a web-based project management software. Basecamp Classic is one of the most popular applications in this category of software and the first version of it was released on February 29, 2004. Basecamp 2 was launched in 2010 and was the first major update of Basecamp which introduced some new features that were not available in the previous version, such as to-dos, online discussions, and comments. The current version of Basecamp 2 is 3.0 which was released on March 25, 2015.Basecamp Classic and Basecamp 2 are very similar in terms of their general appearance. However, they have different features. They are two separate applications but they are integrated in one account. In order to use both of them, you have to create an account on the main website of Basecamp and then you will be able to log into both applications with your email and password.Basecamp 2 has many similarities with its predecessor. There are some features in Basecamp Classic that are not found in Basecamp 2 such as showing a calendar to display all completed tasks for a day. The navigation menu is also located on the left side instead of the top side. On the other hand, Basecamp 2 contains some functions that are not available in Basecamp Classic such as "comments" and "to-dos".Basecamp 2 has a feature called "to-dos" which allows users to add new tasks that have to be done. Users can also assign who is going to do each task by adding an individual name or selecting a group from a list of people.Basecamp 2 has a "discussion" feature which allows users to communicate with each other through the application. Users can ask questions or give answers through discussion threads which are placed below every task's description.Basecamp Classic does not have discussion boards, but it has "comments" feature which enables users to add their comments to a task or a list of tasks. Users can read comments from the notification section in the bottom right corner of each page. The main benefit of integration of Basecamp Classic and Basecamp 2 is that it enables users to access all information in one place. When users log in, they land on the main page where they can see everything that goes on inside of their projects, whether it is new tasks, messages or comments. Also, when logged into both websites simultaneously, users can still see all their projects in one place without having to switch between multiple tabs or windows.
