For example, you can send an email, or SMS via Amazon Kinesis Streams. You can also send notifications to specific users in Amazon SNS via topic. In order to integrate Basecamp 2 and Amazon SNS, we need to create an IAM role for Basecamp 2 and issue an API key for it. This API key will be used when creating topic in Amazon SNS console. After creating the topic in Amazon SNS console, we need to set permissions for the created topic that allow basecamp2:SendMessage permission. The last step is to configure Basecamp 2 to post messages to the created topic in Amazon SNS console.Basecamp 2 requires your AWS Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. However, they are not saved in clear text format. They are saved in the form of cryptographically hashed strings called secret access key strings. Therefore, we need to convert them back to clear text format before using them in other AWS services such as Amazon SNS.Basecamp 2 has a feature called "Integrations" where you can save all of your configurations for different third party services such as Tempo, Freshbooks, Harvest, etc. You can also save configurations for custom scripts such as one that sends a message to Amazon SNS.
