IoT is the network of physical objects that are embedded with electronics, software, sensors, and connectivity which enables these objects to connect and exchange data. In other words, our everyday appliances are connected to the internet and can send and receive data. With the help of AI and machine learning, IoT devices get more intelligent every day.
IoT is paving the way for a smarter world and has been found to be a game changer in many industries. From simple devices like smart thermostats that learn from their users to complex things like autonomous cars.
Zoho Cliq is a cloud-based service providing users with an online platform to create their own bot and integrate it with various websites and applications through APIs including Facebook Messenger, Slack, Telegram, and Google Assistant. With Cliq’s powerful bot building tops, developers can use Python language to quickly build their bots and integrate them with Zoho CRM, Zoho Campaigns, Zoho Desk etc.
The integration of AWS IOT and Zoho Cliq can be done using IFTTT (If This Then That. IFTTT is an online service that allows users to create chains of simple conditional statements, called applets. When an applet is turned on, it runs a series of commands according to a trigger in a user’s account. For example, if the temperature rises above 73° Fahrenheit (22° Celsius. at 3pm on Tuesday, the Philips Hue lights in my apartment turn blue. IFTTT can also be used to contrp Amazon devices such as Echo Dot and Amazon Alexa. But what really makes it useful is its ability to connect with almost any web service out there. For example, I can use IFTTT to post Tweets whenever I publish a blog post here on the Zoho Blog. IFTTT has numerous applications in IoT. Let’s take a look at how we can use it to integrate AWS IOT and Zoho Cliq.
We will use AWS IOT rules to automate sending messages to Zoho Cliq bot.

Step 1. Setup your AWS IOT Hub with proper configurations. You need to specify Rule Endpoint in AWS IOT Rules so that it knows where to send messages when triggered by sensor event.
Step 2. Create a Zoho Cliq bot using Zoho Cliq builder or directly using python code. You can find sample code here. https://github.com/zohocreative/aws-iot-zoho-cliq-integration-sample
Step 3. Add Zoho Cliq bot to target Zoho CRM (or other application. so that it can receive messages from this bot. You can do this in API Explorer of Zoho CRM by fplowing this link . https://zohocrmcloudapihelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005478102-Set-up-the-ZohoCRM-API-Explorer-step-by-step-guide or use python code for integration of Zoho CRM. Step 4. You can now send messages from AWS IOT rule to Zoho Cliq bot via Rule Endpoint specified in step 1. Replace “REGEX” string with regex pattern of your choice. For example, you can use “my_thermostat_is_on” for any device name that turns on and off based on the temperature in the room. Replace “Message” with message that you want to send to target application. For example, “Temperature is rising up” if temperature is above 73 degree Fahrenheit (22 degree Celsius. If you want to change the name of sensor you can refer to. http://docs.aws.amazon.com/iot/latest/developerguide/device-registration.html#registering-a-new-device in order to register new device name based on model number of sensor so that it will work better with Rule Endpoint specified in step 1. Remember to replace “REGEX” string with regex pattern of your choice in Step 4.
