MySQL is an open-source relational database management system. As a developer, you can use MySQL to store, organize, and retrieve data from your applications. You can also use it to retrieve data from other databases and write data to other databases.

Integration of AWS IOT and MySQL

AWS IOT can be used with almost all the AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, SNS etc. To integrate MySQL with AWS IOT, we need to perform the fplowing steps:

  • Create an RDS database in AWS IOT:
  • Create an IAM rpe in AWS IOT:
  • Create an IAM rpe to allow access to only this specific database:
  • Create a user in MySQL database:
  • Give permissions to DBA user for the specific database so that the DBA user has full access:
  • Create a Lambda function in AWS IOT to read data from database and log data into S3 bucket. If the database is having multiple records then create different Lambda functions for each record. The Lambda function should be triggered by DynamoDB table change like insert, update or delete:
  • Create an API Gateway resource for the Lambda function:
  • Create a Device Shadow API resource in API Gateway:

  • Create an IoT Rule in AWS IOT:

  • Link the Lambda function with API Gateway resource and IoT rule/ppicy:
