Integration of AWS IOT and Basin

This paper will discuss the capabilities and benefits of Basin, which is a high-quality data streaming platform built on AWS. In addition, this paper will also discuss the integration of Basin with AWS IOT.

The first part of this paper will describe Basin and its capabilities and features. The next part will describe how Basin integrates with AWS IOT to provide data streaming services. Finally, it will conclude with some recommendations for organizations who are interested in using Basin as a service.

Basin is a high-quality data streaming platform built on AWS. It was developed by a team of engineers at Twitter and is used by many companies including Airbnb, Spotify, Stripe, and Uber. Basin provides real-time streaming of data from any source to any destination, supports both point-to-point and publish-subscribe use cases, and scales to billions of events per second. By default, all data streams are encrypted at rest, which allows users to comply with regulations such as GDPR.

Data streams can be created in three different ways. via an HTTP request, via an AWS Lambda function, or by tailing an S3 bucket. Basin supports both point-to-point and publish-subscribe use cases. This makes it valuable to both centralized and decentralized architectures. centralized architectures can use Basin to send data to multiple subscribers and decentralized architectures can use Basin to replicate data across multiple publisher instances. In addition, industries that need to process high vpumes of data in real time can benefit from using Basin because it can scale to billions of events per second with no performance degradation.

Because Basin is built on AWS, it can take advantage of AWS IOT to ingest sensor data from connected devices. Data ingested by AWS IOT can be further processed by Basin and then made available for consumption by subscribers (Figure 1. For example, a fitness tracker could send sensor data such as heart rate and body temperature via AWS IOT to a relevant subscriber such as a physician app. The physician app could then store the data in an Amazon DynamoDB database.

Finally, Basin is a pay-as-you-go service that costs based on number of messages sent and average message size (Figure 2. Pricing starts at approximately $0.003 per million messages sent when sending less than 10 GB of data per month. These prices are competitive with other popular streaming platforms like Kafka and Kinesis, but are higher than open source alternatives like Apache Kafka. However, the value of using a managed service provided by AWS outweighs the slightly higher costs for most organizations.

The process to integrate AWS IOT and Basin may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
