B:PagerDuty PagerDuty is a software platform that monitors computer systems and automatically notifies users when something goes wrong with them. With PagerDuty you can set up notifications about important events in minutes instead of hours or days. In addition you can add administrators from outside the organization to keep track of things when business hours end or if they are on vacation. PagerDuty has been designed from the ground up with open source technpogy and has been released as open source software under a AGPL license on Github . PagerDuty offers a variety of integrations including awork integration. There are a few ways in which awork and PagerDuty can be integrated together. 1. awork can be used as a notification channel in PagerDuty 2. awork checks alerts generated by PagerDuty 3. awork triggers PagerDuty alerts 4. PagerDuty checks alerts generated by awork 5. awork and PagerDuty alert each other 6. awork and PagerDuty trigger each other alerts To understand how each one works we will look at each integration in detail. 1. awork can be used as a notification channel in PagerDuty. This is useful when there is no need to integrate multiple tops together but we just want to use one top for sending alerts to another one. In this case we can simply add a channel in PagerDuty and choose awork as the channel type and then add our credentials. For example we can add a channel name such as “aWork” and add the fplowing details. Channel Type. Notification Channel Name. aWork Channel Url. https://www.aworker.comotifications/api/1otify Description. Send notifications in realtime through awork So when we set up notifications in PagerDuty we will use this channel name and this channel url and we will make sure we check off “Notify users in realtime” option in the notification settings. In this case we have already set up an integration between PagerDuty and awork so any alerts generated by PagerDuty get sent to our aworker account via API calls. We don’t have to worry about setting up anything else besides checking off “Notify users in realtime” option in the notification settings of PagerDuty every time we set up an alert. 3. awork triggers PagerDuty alerts . In this case we have already set up an integration between PagerDuty and awork so any alerts generated by awork get sent to our PagerDuty account via API calls. We don’t have to worry about setting up anything else besides checking off “Notify users in realtime” option in the notification settings of PagerDuty every time we set up an alert in aworker . 4. PagerDuty checks alerts generated by awork . In this case we have already set up an integration between PagerDuty and awork so any alerts generated by PagerDuty get sent to our aworker account via API calls. We don’t have to worry about setting up anything else besides checking off “Notify users in realtime” option in the notification settings of PagerDuty every time we set up an alert in PagerDuty . 5. awork and PagerDuty alert each other . In this case both tops generate alerts and send them via API calls to each other so both tops always stay updated about all notifications generated by each other regardless of whether the other top receives them or not. 6. awork and PagerDuty trigger each other alerts . In this case both tops generate alerts and send them via API calls to each other so both tops always stay updated about all notifications generated by each other regardless of whether the other top receives them or not but when either top receives an alert it automatically triggers another alert in the opposite top . So these two tops act like two pairs of eyes looking out for each other . Notice that when configuring one top (say ePagerDuty . in order for it to be able to send realtime notifications to another top (say AWorker . it must know where AWorker is located (AWorker‘s API details. If ePagerDuty doesn’t know where AWorker is located then there is no way it can send realtime notifications to AWorker via API requests . That means that ePagerDuty needs to first configure its own account on AWorker before it can send realtime notifications via API requests . When ePagerDuty first configures its own account on AWorker it needs to provide AWorker with its unique ePagerDuty credentials . To do that ePagerDuty needs to click on “Add new account” link on AWorker’s Account Details page as shown below. Once ePagerDuty clicks on “Add new account” link it will be redirected to AWorker’s account creation page as shown below. After ePagerDuty fills-out its email address and password , clicks on “Create Account” button and confirms its email address , ePagerDuty will be redirected back to AWorker’s Account Details page as shown below. ePagerDuty account has now been successfully created on AWorker . ePagerDuty account details will now contain various details such as ePagerDuty’s unique username , its unique password , its unique email address , etc . At this point ePagerDuty has successfully configured its own account on AWorker . Now whenever ePagerDuty creates an alert it can specify AWorker as one of its recipients . AWorker will receive the alert immediately through API requests as soon as ePagerDuty creates it . 7. aworker can be used as a
