  • AWork is a platform for knowledge sharing and cplaboration. One can create, organize and share information and ideas with other users (Borgman and Furner, 2008. It’s used to perform tasks such as spreadsheets, take notes, share files and documents, and connect to cpleagues and clients (Gaver and Maier, 2005.

  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2. is a web service that provides resizable compute capacity in the cloud. It is designed to make web-scale cloud computing easier for developers (Amazon, 2015. EC2 provides users with access to a virtual server in the cloud to run applications. This enables users to avoid having to manage a physical server themselves to support their applications. Users can run multiple virtual servers on one physical server at a lower cost compared to running a single physical server. By using a software interface to subscribe to Amazon EC2 service, it allows us to re-provision virtual servers as needed without additional software installation or complex configuration. In addition, EC2 enables users to choose from a variety of operating systems, including those provided by Linux, Microsoft, and Oracle. The latest version of Amazon EC2 is called AWS Lambda. It is a new technpogy that allows code to be executed in response to events without provisioning or managing servers (Amazon, 2015.

In this case, AWS Lambda will be used as a deployment model to build a system which uses awork as an alternative cloud service. In addition, the “data synchronization” function that comes with AWS Lambda can be used as a business data connection between them to synchronize the data from the EC2 instance to the awork instance.
